This is the latest photo of our family, taken at the Rose Garden in Holmdel.
Quite the different scene for us than 9 years ago on this day.
9 years ago, Brian and I had been dating for 9 months and I was a college student in NYC and he was across the river in NJ. It was a harrowing, scary day.
Brian and I have also been noticing that we are a rare breed of parents in our community. When we last went to NYC last month to the Met and saw Van Goghs, Manets, Picassos, and other wonderful works of art, then went for brunch, we saw countless other couples walking around with babies in carriers.
But in the six months since Erika has arrived and we've been carrying her around? We've only seen maybe two parents wearing their babies. Most of the time, we're met with "oh cool! Wish those existed when I had a kid!" or "Wow, what is that!?" It's pretty surprising that more parents in NJ don't wear their children. (For the record, we have a Mayan Wrap that we don't use as Erika doesn't like it, an Ergo Carrier that I use, and a Baby Bjorn Synergy that Brian uses)
