LJ Anniversary

April 14, 2009:
LiveJournal is turning 10 and we're feeling nostalgic. What was your first LJ post about?

Oh, I was so young then! Looking back at my first entries in 2001, I was 21 years old. I had no idea where any of my life was going-- academically I was confused, relationship-wise I was lost, and my self-image was all over the place! As some names mentioned in my first entry are no longer talked about in my current LJ, I'll fill you in with: Andrew was a friend, Will was my high school boyfriend, Billy was my childhood dog, and Barnard College is my alma mater.

In the last 8 years, I proudly, in chronological order, graduated from Barnard College with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, moved into my first apartment, adopted my first pet, got engaged, bought a house, got a dog, got married, obtained a M.S. in Marine Ecology from Rutgers University, found my first job as a teacher, and bought a second home. In two months, I'll be celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary. Life, all around, has been very good to me.

My first recorded LJ entry:
January 3rd, 2001: Millenium thoughts
Jan. 3rd, 2001 at 10:52 AM

Can't believe it's the new millenium. If it is true what they say, that how you ring in the New Year is an indication of how your new year will be, then I will have a beautiful year indeed. I spent it with a couple good friends, in a cozy home, with a lot of love in the air. Thanks for inviting me, Yi, I haven't had a better New Year ever. Really, thank you.

I deleted my old journal files for the entire 2000 year. I don't know why. They depressed me too much. I lost Andrew in a car accident, I broke up with Will, I miss Billy, I am no longer a sociology major, I'm no longer going to medical school, I gained 10 lbs, and Barnard girls are despised. Sighs.
