2020 year in review
Personally and professionally, 2020 wasn't a terrible year. I had a way harder year with personal growth last year. 2020 has been a confirmation of the cruelty of our racism, politics, and systems. LOTS OF CRYING!!! and money donated, angry phonecalls and emails, and pointless instagram stories that were sent out.
Professionally/work-wise, things have never been clearer on how pointless it is. While I had frustraing moments at work, I never felt sick or as upset as I did in my other jobs. This is largely thanks to my manager! She's been great! My salary got cut but it didn't affect my economic well-being to which I'm grateful for. My personal life has been somewhat stable. Last year, I had a really hard time with commitment and getting used to being in a relationship that required a lot of work. I'm still learning obviously but it's not as painful. I am generally still happy being with Oliver even though sometimes he's very annoying!! Lots of things will be changing for me in 2021, I'll be moving and saying goodbye to New York for a bit. I'm totally anxious and really sad about it! And that's okay! I'm also excited to move to a new city and explore a climate and environment outside my comfort zone.
anyway, here's the rest -
1. What did you do in 2020 that you'd never done before?
i went hiking voluntarily, lived in another city unexpectedly
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i don't believe in them anymore .. I'm sure I can be better at certain things but who cares really
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
OMG SO MANY PEOPLE HAD BABIES THIS YEAR... my new-ish friend Joce, old HS friend Kath, my sorority sister Gina, etc.. I feel like it's been the year of babies.
4. What countries did you visit?
HK/Taiwan as usual.. we were supposed to go to Vietnam this year but you know the whole thing...
5. What would you like to have in 2021 that you lacked in 2020?
Ugh honestly I don't care anymore, I don't think i really lacked anything tbh...
6. What date from 2020 will remain etched upon your memory?
hmm there are many days but I really happy when we went kayaking sometime in the summer
7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
fundraising $10k for north star fund
8. What was your biggest failure?
Not sure... i made a super terrible budaejigae over the summer.. tragic
9. Did you suffer illness or injury?
nope.. ever since we stopped commuting, I haven't been ill. BUT there was one day when my lowerback kind of went out and it was hard to stand up for a week but that passed...
10. What was the best thing you bought?
ooh I'm really enjoying the blender I bought
11. Whose behavior merited celebration?
protestors woohoo!
12. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
police, both republicans and democrats, people who voted for Biden in the primary FUCK U
13. Where did most of your money go?
Other than rent and food, the newest and most significant expense has been donations, i've donated close to $4-5k this year..

ii. Thinner or fatter? Thinner.. i've lost like 5 lbs (usually i'm around 125-128. Lately i've been consistently around 115-120.

exercising but I've exercised more this year than almost any previous year...

cooking, HAHA i got so tired of it and felt a lot of pressure to do so.. really should just order take out lol

I was flying to New York from Taiwan and I cried a lot bc I always do that when I leave my parents. I turned 31.

god.. I wish covid didn't happen and that no one died from that, and no one went bankrupt or faced so many socioeconomic failures. Honestly I've never cried so much in a year.. I felt like every week... was something new and worse.
