It's been so hard to get an internet connection here in Laos. Finally.
The journey here been smooth so far. The only major thing that has happened to me and Adriana on our trip was the first day of class. We actually lost our way to the French School for Tropical Medicine here in Vientiane, Laos. The group that we were supposed to tag along with went off first while we were happily enjoying our breakfast. Luckily for us, the people of Vientiane were helpful and eventually we made our way to the school. But of course we were late.
Adriana and I initially shared rooms with other participants from around the region. I was sharing my room with a married straight man! The horrors! Haha. But after the first day of training, we both decided we were more comfortable sharing a room together. We informed the training coordinator of our decision. She gave us a weird look but said yes anyway. We don't really care. So we will be paying for our own room till the end of our training days. Its not too bad I guess. The rooms cost USD20 per night. And we're both going dutch. So its not too bad.
Life here is totally different. The people are more relaxed. There are a whole lot of temples too. We didnt have anytime to do shopping yet as shops here tend to close early around 5pm. We'll probably shop around on Saturday just before we go home.
And I still have to do a bit of work for my office in Singapore everyday. Its getting tiring really. I know its mostly my fault for taking on more things than I can handle. Sigh. But work will be another entry.
The food here has been lots of meat! Gosh. I think I need to go for my daily runs again when I return to Singapore. They have a central gym here. I managed to get a glimpse of it the other day on my way to have dinner. We are provided more meals here than I would have gotten in Singapore.
It seems time here is one hour slower than Singapore. Which is good. I guess I get one hour of extra sleep everyday, no? Lol.
