Once Alex had managed to get Kyle to sleep, he had begun to freak out, panicked. Kyle, the person that he loved, had killed someone. Kyle had been raped. This was all putting Alex through whirlwinds of upset and frustration. Kyle had spoken, finally, and he had confessed to Alex what had happened that night that he had shown up at his house. Kyle had killed someone… and Alex didn’t know what to do.

Picking up the phone, he was about to tell Jack but stopped himself before he could hit the ‘send’ button. He couldn’t tell anyone what Kyle had told him, couldn’t break the boy’s trust after he had worked so hard to earn it in the first place. He tossed his cell onto the couch and let out a long, much-needed sigh. Everything was just really confusing right now and Alex had no idea what he was going to do.

With a sigh of frustration, Alex fell down on top of the couch, groaning as he felt his phone stick into his back. There was too much information rushing through his mind and he would have loved for his brain to just shut down. From beneath him, his phone buzzed importantly. At first, Alex was going to just ignore the call and let it ring until whoever was on the phone just hung up, but he found himself reaching underneath him and dragging it out.

“Hello?” Alex moved the phone away from his ear the second that he heard the intense screaming on the other end of the line.

“Shut up! I’m on the phone!” Alex bit back a small smile as he listened to his best friend yell at someone, as per usual. “Sorry, Lex,” he said once he was back. “I’m watching the demons that I regret to call my nephews.”

Alex let out a tiny laugh as he leaned back into the couch, allowing the plush cushions to envelope him. “You love your nephews, Jack,” he informed his best friends, as if he didn’t know. “I know that you and Caleb wish you could just kidnap them and keep them forever.”

“You know me way too well.” Jack said in a laugh-filled voice. “Caleb, stop them!” Alex laughed as a crash echoed through the phone, followed by a very high-pitched scream that Alex knew belonged to Jack. “Back,” Jack insisted as the screaming kids in the background faded away. “I locked them in the closet; Caleb’s keeping guard.”

“Of course,” Alex said in the midst of a slight giggle fit. “Because I know that you would totally lock the two cutest and most dangerous kids in the world in a closet and leave Caleb in charge.”

“Ah, I see the mistake,” Jack said as some unmentionable noise came through the phone. “Hold on, let me fix it.” Alex waited patiently for the screaming to start up again, but the sound of hyperactive boys didn’t reach Alex’s ears. “I’m back,” Jack trilled. “And I fixed the problem! I fired Caleb. Gabe’s coming in from New York just to guard my closet. I think I’m in love.”

Alex let out a stream of laugher, allowing Jack’s stupidity to let him forget about his current issues. “You’re crazy,” Alex stated as he ran a hand over his face to wipe away the tears that had bubbled up from laughing too hard. “I love you, crazy Jack.”

“Oh my god, Alex! I love you too!” Jack’s squeaking, twelve-year-old girl act caused Alex to burst right back into laughter. “This is perfect! We’re in love!” As Alex snickered, he vaguely wondered how Jack wasn’t bursting into laughter right now.

“Purple macaroons?” Alex asked the second he was done laughing, waiting for Jack to respond to their random, crazy code that they had invented back in freshman year of high school.

Jack let out a tiny laugh. “Sex on the beach,” he responded. “No…ocean oranges!” Alex laughed loudly and he let his eyes fall shut, not caring about anything aside from the fact that Jack was killing him with laughter, quite figuratively. “Oh my god, Pat Brown’s on my TV!” Jack exclaimed.

Alex listened to a series of clattering noises as Jack rushed to get as close to the television. “You dead yet, Jack?” he asked once the noises stopped. Jack’s response was somewhere between a squeal and a moan, and Alex began to grin. “Jerking off to Pat again?” he asked in a mock tone of disappointment. “Caleb’s gonna kill you.”

“You’re right, Alex,” a new voice responded as Jack let out a choking noise in the background. “Thanks for the suggestion.”

“No problem, Caleb,” Alex responded with a small smile. “Jack needs to be murdered when he gets horny over the Sing it Loud boys.” He heard Jack whine in protest in the background and what sounded like a slap. “Don’t kill him too bad, okay? I still need my guitarist.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Caleb said in a bored voice, ignoring Jack’s pleas for his cell phone back. “Your guitarist is a bitch, a whipped bitch, to be honest.” Jack whined again, this time in a more desperate tone. “Oh, someone’s been deprived sex today, that’s why he’s so horny.”

Alex chuckled softly. “I pity his nephews,” he informed Caleb. “Having to listen to you two in bed, or is that why he’s been deprived his sex? Is it because the kids are home?”

“Yeah,” Caleb said as Jack let out another pitiful whine. “He’s a stupid, stupid horny bastard and I’m training him in the art of keeping it in his pants.” Alex laughed.

“I wish you the best of luck with that,” he informed Caleb with a smile. “It’s a difficult thing, training Jack. God, I remember when we were teaching him how to play guitar. Good fucking times.”

“I don’ t doubt that,” Caleb said in a laughing tone. “Anyway, is it cool with you if I kidnap Jack? He needs to let the kids out of the closet.”

Alex sat up on the couch. “Wait, did he actually lock them in there?” he asked in slight disbelief. He had known Jack to do some pretty crazy things, but locking little kids in a closet, that was low, even for Jack.

“Yeah,” Caleb responded. “So can I steal him?”

“By all means,” Alex informed him. “Steal Jack and run far, far away with him, but not before letting the kids come out and be gay.”

“Funny,” Caleb said with a laugh. “Well we’ll talk to you later then. Tell Kyle I said hi, okay?” Instantly, Alex was reminded about Kyle, about all that he had been thinking about before Jack had called and he swallowed nervously.

“Yeah, no problem,” he told Caleb softly. “I’ll talk to you guys later.”

“Alright, Gaskank.” Caleb grinned. “Bye.” The line went dead and Alex dropped his phone back onto the couch. He now had to think about Kyle, and he wasn’t sure what to think about when it came to Kyle. That was frustrating and far too confusing to consider at the moment.

Alex closed his eyes and he crashed on the couch, attempting to force himself into a nap so that he could get away from all of his current thoughts. He had been close to drifting off when he heard footsteps on the stairs and he opened his eyes.

“Alex,” Kyle whispered as he came down into the living room. “Can I…?” He knew that Kyle was asking permission to come sit with him, and Alex wasn’t going to deny him that no matter what.

“Of course,” Alex said as he moved over so that there was room for Kyle on the couch. “Come sit with me.” Kyle came down over to the couch and he sat down on the edge of it before moving as close to Alex as he could, slipping his arms around the brunet’s waist with ease.

Alex kissed the top of Kyle’s head gently without thinking about it until Kyle shivered lightly in his grip. “I’m sorry,” he whispered instantly as he looked down at Kyle. “I wasn’t thinking when I did that. I’m sorry, Kyle.”

“It’s okay,” Kyle whispered as he slowly looked up at Alex. “I liked it.” Kyle lapsed into silence, leaving Alex with even more confusing thoughts about how he was going to handle Kyle’s current situation and his ridiculously crazy-for-Kyle heart.
