Once upon a time, two boys shared a secret relationship. They refused to part, despite the fact that their relationship was disturbing, let alone against the rules. They had what they thought was special, and nothing was going to get in their way.

Until that day.

“YOU MOTHER FUCKER!” Kevin shouted as he threw a snow globe at his little brother. Joe dodged the glass object before it shattered against the wall.

Joe ducked as glass shards cascaded over his head. “Kevin! I didn’t do anything, I swear!” Kevin scoffed as he reached for another object to throw at Joe. “Kevin, please!”

The plea was unheard by the 20 year old as he picked up the antique rosewood clock that Joe had bought him for his 20th birthday. “Don’t lie to me you asshole,” he cried as he whirled the clock at Joe, hitting him in the stomach. Joe doubled over as he held his stomach. The glass covering that had adorned the clock just moments before had broke when it came in contact with Joe’s bare flesh, digging the splinters of glass into the young singer’s body. “You fucked him! You fucked that asshole, and now you’re going to tell me that you didn’t do it!?”

Joe whimpered as he felt the burning sensation of the glass slitting open scars in his body. “Kevin, please understand! I didn’t do it because I wanted to! Please…”

“So now you’re admitting to it! Finally! I see it all clearly now,” Kevin seethed as he grabbed onto his one finger. “You don’t love me. You merely enjoyed fucking with me. It wasn’t any different when we were together. You treated me like any single one of your whoreish girlfriends that you fucked when we were on tour. I bet when you told me ‘I love you’ it wasn’t true.”

Tears brimmed in Kevin’s eyes as he yanked off the silver band on his ring finger and threw it to the ground. “Fuck you Joe. Fuck you and your lies and your ‘I didn’t do anything.’ I’m through.” Joe whimpered as the ring bounced off of the hard wood floor and whacked him in the face. “Goodbye Joe. Have a fucking nice life.”

Joe sobbed as Kevin walked across the room and slammed the door behind him. He couldn’t feel anything anymore. All that he had in his life that was keeping him sane was lost within the past five minutes, and there was nothing he could do to get his brother, his lover back. “I wasn’t lying Kevin,” Joe whimpered as he crumpled on the floor, bleeding from his face and stomach. “I wasn’t lying to you when I told you I love you.”

Outside the room, Kevin had slumped against the wall and buried his head in his hands. His relationship was over, and there was nothing he could do to bring it back. Anything that he had had with Joe was now gone, and his heart had been ripped out of his chest when he broke it off with Joe. The world had ended, and he promised himself that he would no longer love.

Love only brought destruction.

Once upon a time, two boys had shared a relationship. It was ruined by a single lie, and reinforced by thousands of tears. Once upon a time, two hearts were shattered, and a promise was made. Never love again.

But now, this isn’t a fairy tale, and once upon a time no longer exists.

Times are about to change.
For the better.
