Weekend Update.

Mark and I were busy bees this weekend. However, we got a lot done, and the house is officially completely unpacked and uncluttered; even the basement.

I opted out of the tax rally on Saturday. We were low on gas and had so much crap to get done, that I put that responsibility first, ahead of politics. I really wanted to go, but the house had to be my first priority. Mark and I worked ALL DAY on the basement. We moved all of our belongings out of moving boxes and in to Rubbermaid bins that will be housed in one of the storage rooms. The game tables have been set up since last weekend, but we hung up the dart board and took a short break by playing a couple games together.

We also stopped by Oak & Treasures in Farmington and found one of those hanger/hutch things that you put in entryways. We found that we were not able to install hangers on the wall in the kitchen entryway, as the fiberglass shower is on the wall behind it. This piece will be very functional, it fits like a glove, and it looks exquisite!

I am quite pleased with the way the house looks. The only thing left to do are the finishing touches like artwork and decorating accessories. I don't want to do all of that at once. There should be something to look forward to! I had my mind made up on the artwork I wanted for the dining room until I decided to be nice and ask Mark his opinion. Big mistake. I really wish I had a man that didn't give a rip about interior decor, because I could do whatever I wanted.

Mark doesn't think that vintage liquor ads or pin-up art is appropriate for a dining room. He wants to see a B&W landscape print there that we both liked when looking at the mall one day. I told him absolutely NO landscapes in my dining room. It's either people, food, or wine. Period. Now he wants to go shopping for artwork together. Ugh.

Dammit - I just want what I want! I have envisioned my dining room looking a certain way for years, and it's ALWAYS included vintage liqor ads on the walls. He wants to wait until we get the blinds up to decide on artwork, so maybe I can get him to cave on this by then. I can only hope!
