Gmar Hativa Toma

Oct 12, 2005 20:20

Tonight starts Yom Kippur. I have tried in years past to fast for the entire day and failed. last year i went 18 hours. I have to make it this time.

But enough about my record.

For those of you who aren't jewish, Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement, the holiest of days for Jews.

The Day of Atonement absolves from sins against God, but not from sins against a fellow man unless the pardon of the offended person be secured" (Mishnah tractate Yoma 8:9). Hence the custom of terminating on the eve of the fastday (or in the 10-day period between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) all feuds and disputes. Even the souls of the dead are included in the community of those pardoned on the Day of Atonement.

So for this.. I formally apologize to everyone I've ever hurt, be it physically, mentally, emotionally. Please forgive me for anything I've done in the past year (or be it since we met) to hurt you. If I HAVE hurt you, please comment on my journal (if you are willing to forgive me, or not). Please no jokers, this is a very serious thing.

I appreciate all of you, and love you with all my heart (yeah, I'm not a born-again Jew.. lol.. I'm just trying to be more religious), and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, so I may be absolved of my sins.

Gmar Hatima Tova.
