Mum is back home and fattening up with about 2100kcal per day, waiting for radiotherapy to begin. Nurses come 3 times a day to plug in her feeding tube and see to her generally. She's bored of having to remain seated 3 times 2 hours a day.
Meanwhile, one of my father's symptoms with his high blood pressure is loss of vision in the left eye. We managed to wrangle an appointment with an eye doctor, who managed to make him say that the loss of vision had been progressive over the past few months, with the HBP just making it worse with a slight haemorraghe. But he has a cataract, with a mostly opaque lens, and needs an operation.
So, down the street to the eye surgeon for an appointment (and I miraculously bagged one 2 weeks from now, not 3 months, thanks to a timely cancellation), then across the road for an appointment with the anesthetist. Lurvely afternoon.
Thankfully, my sister is here for another week (until Mum's first radiotherapy appt) and will return within a few weeks. One of my brothers will also return shortly. Others will come and visit over the coming months. We're pushing for a full makeover of their bathroom so they have a decent and accessible shower. I remember helping paint and decorate that room in the early 80s... High time, even for a holiday home.
Maybe a stairlift too.
I'm flying back to Blighty tomorrow. Actually, the flight was today, but I pushed it back as much as I could...
