This... is concerning.

Rose and I went away last week for a few days. We just went up to Blackpool for candy floss and amusement arcades and other touristy things (which was lots of fun! :D). Only one minor alien to have words with (she's left Earth now, fortunately, because she was really confusing the local pigeons ( Read more... )

That's a bit worrying. :-\

I might get my computer to monitor the place. I never really thought that was necessary.

Probably a journalist or a student trying to cheat or something.

Maybe the robots could patrol it? It probably was innocent enough (well, "innocent" isn't the right word), but you never know.

Well my work computer is intelligent, so she can probably do it. I'm not sure I want anything out of the ordinary in there in case it gets nicked, though.

I might ask Rob (campus security who hangs around the back of the physics building a lot and gossips) to keep an eye on things.

If it happens again, we can always have a late-night stake out! :D

They're always good fun. I almost want someone to break into my office so there can be sweets and cuddling at 3am at university.

If it doesn't happen, is there anything else we can spy on? :D

I'm sure we can find something.

Maybe we should protect the library from book thieves!

Does the library get a lot of book thieves?

... Maybe?

We should check! XD

Because hanging out in the bushes with night-vision goggles is fun and all, but it's even more fun if there's actual crime to be vanquished! :D

This is very true. I'm not entirely convinced the university library is a crime hotspot, so maybe we should look further afield!

Oh, you are so mistaken. Libraries are indeed hotspots for crime. People steal books (had two stolen from my reference collection just the week before last - guy was caught by a fleet-footed student guard), other people's purses and computers, they use the public computers to send threatening notes and you do NOT want me tell you what people get up to in the stacks.

No, really you don't.

Trust me on this.

Well, maybe so, but probably not at 3am when the campus security has chucked everyone out!

And I don't suppose you mean people have loud telephone conversations, do you?

part of our library is open 24/5 though you do at least have to have a student ID to be in here after 11pm so the likelihood of things happening does go down.

ummm, no.
really... you don't want to know.

It's sort of like when we ran across those aliens in that one ice cream factory tour on that one planet. Sure we wandered off from the tour, but why would you want to do that in the middle of all those machines?
