Greetings to all, and Happy Tolkien Reading Day! In honour of this auspicious occasion, I've finally gotten off my a**e and actually POSTED a response to
THIS. Remember, back in the Dark Ages (okay, eight months ago), when
estelanui suggested reading LotR aloud in other languages than English, and
lbilover made a "Foreign Language Edition" post? No one ever took her up on it, 's'far's I know, so here goes: the section that she selected from Chapter One, in French.
My sincere apologies in advance to any and all native French speakers, for my atrocious accent and any mispronunciations. (My friend Hannah, a Francophone from Tunisia, helped me; any remaining goofs are mine alone.) I lived in France briefly as a child, but a few decades have passed since then, and I've forgotten a lot...
If you're interested in hearing more LotR in other languages, be sure to go
HERE, if you haven't already, to hear
frodosweetstuff read LotR in GERMAN!
And one last thing:
lbilover, pick a section of Chapter Two in the next day or so, and my daughter Rebecca will read it in Hebrew! I expect that will be a new one for most everybody...
