While I knew we had stuff to take care of, I went to SynthBrew for a bag of whole coffee beans to give Preston anyway, since I knew how much he liked to eat them. I figured if we were going to call Xan and Jirrin, unleashing a torrent of awkwardness, he deserved to have some chewable caffeine.

( When I returned to our dorm room, I held the bag of beans behind my back. )

Aw Dylannnn. You and Preston are so cute. Feel kinda bad for Xan, though. Poor dude fucked everything all up for himself and now he's gotta deal with the consequences. Sounds like another asshole I know...but that asshole still manages to get lucky. lolol So maybe Xan will, too? Though that would make me feel bad for Preston.

Damn you and your love triangles I should have a clear pairing I want to win. xD

Maybe Xan will, I don't actually know. It's not like this thing is even remotely following the outline I planned for it. My characters (at least in this 'verse and B&N) do what they want and thus end up with whom they want. I would feel terrible for Preston if Xan and Dylan do end up together, but it might still happen because characters will be characters.

Xan is waaaaay too much like Savin, and I'm just like "dude, it's not a good idea to be like him. You might not get lucky. And he doesn't even want to be him."

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that there's no obvious "winner" for you in this particular love triangle? Or is it like a neutral thing that's neither good nor bad?

I ship Dylan and Preston, and Xan was a fucking ass and a half to Dylan. But I do have to give Xan credit for apologizing, and for owning up to why he did the things he did. That definitely gives him some depth and personality he sorely lacked in the original version. Not sure whether it's enough to make a relationship between him and Dylan ever work, but it makes it seem not totally impossible, and I was glad to see it.

Is Preston eating plain coffee beans, or are they the kind with the yummy dark chocolate coating?

Preston's coffee beans are plain coffee beans.

I don't know how well a relationship between Xan and Dylan would work, but I'm glad Xan's got some actual depth and personality this time. :)

Well Xan's reasons kinda make sense... I guess... He's just so out of touch with feelings and emotions and stuff. But still, that doesn't make him less of an ass to Dylan. And Dylan choosing Preston was a happy moment for sure. They seem like they'd be really sweet together.

Obviously it can't be that easy though... Or the story would be done. Looking forward to seeing what twists their worlds all around!
