Horror enveloped me. No, no, no this shouldn't be happening, I thought. Finbar simply stood there. He looked as horrified as I felt, though there was something else in his face I couldn't quite read. As I went soft, ( Read more... )

I'm glad that you kept going with The Meeting of Breccan and Finbar after the first couple of stories. You've taken this series to a really interesting place here. I feel bad for everybody here, except for Egan because he needs to @*^! off and quit playing games, or at least do so with someone else. And can theun4givables's fic please be canon?

Yeah, let's start with your last question. Egan needs to be told to fuck off. I know it's not Breccan's fault but it seems to me if he loves Finbar he needs to find a way to nut up. Stay the hell away from Egan, hire Maris to protect him, whatever. This shit is not acceptable. :/

I do feel bad for him. But awww, Finbar. He did nothing wrong. He was used for something that was a total lie. Poor guy.

Yeah, Finbar is definitely the one I feel worst for, because he's only here for Breccan and now Breccan's betrayed him. Breccan is a grayer area, because he is being coerced, but he could be doing any of those things to keep himself away from Egan.

Exactly. Like, I feel bad blaming Breccan because it feels kind of "blame the victim" to me. But I feel like there's a point where you have to face that terrible things have happened to you and not let those be a reason to hurt other people. Although in my universe it takes people years and years to get to that point (and probably a lot of times in the real world, too). So I don't know why I'm expecting better from Breccan, really.

I think it's like you said, though. The fact that Finbar is only there for Breccan, and had his life and appearance permanently marred to save him, just makes Breccan's betrayal feel all the more ugly.
