The Roles We're Cast

She hopes it’s not true; wishes it to be just yet another rumour about her love-life. In her eyes you’re cast as the little brother; it’s not a bad role, just not the one you’d wanted. You make her laugh, help her when she asks, don’t judge her, but most of all, you accept her, no matter which facet of her personality she exhibits. She can’t even quite work out why she envisions you as a younger sibling, but in her mind it works. You’re the one she won’t hesitate to jump on and hug, the one she’d muss the hair of without vacillation. People can view that as they wish, but in her eyes you’re the little-brother role… It’s not a bad part to have, just not the one you’d wanted.
