Grandfather Deceased... (book released)

Jun 15, 2007 23:27

Sometimes in life so much happens at once that one is overwhelmed.

Recently I visited my grandfather on his deathbed, and presented my mother with her 60th birthday gift: a book designed for and dedicated to her... I was lucky enough to show my grandfather, and he was proud to share in the moment.

Later that week he passed away peacefully at 91 with his daughters by his side. He lived a full life... What more can a man ask for?

He is my inspiration. A man who traveled the country (48 states), fought a war (WWII), saw the world, cooked well, loved people with body and soul, and taught middle-schoolers (like I am presently).

He and I have a lot in common, beyond a stocky body type and heritage. I see so very much of his good qualities and personality in myself. I thank him and remember him for everything he gave to me, his family, and the world.

My brother wrote a beautiful issue of his column recently about Tony Provenzano, if you are interested follow this link: http://www.mikeyopp.com/spec51.html
