This is our little monster, Raiden. He's a chocolate and white border collie with green eyes; his favorite thing to bite is blankets. We got him last Sunday from a pet store (yes, I know. Boo to pet store/puppy mills); we were going to wait to go to the shelter but for some reason our phone book doesn't have the number for the ASPCA. We just popped in the store to look and there he was! The most bored-looking of all the puppies. I think in this case we lucked out with the pet store; the puppies weren't sickly looking, they weren't in poor conditions, and they've all had they're first round of shots. They also claim responsibility of any illness/disease the puppy may have after you buy it, provided you have it checked by your vet within the week. Maybe it's different in Hawaii (though probably not). Although I feel guilty for supporting a pet store, I love Raiden (most of the time ; P) so....
We were originally looking for a cat, but were told that it was very rare for them to carry cats (?). Fortunately, Raiden is extremely clever. Although he's now only 9.5 weeks old, he's 90% housebroken (in only 2 days!), can sit-down-up-stay, recognizes his name, can recall, and responds to other commands. And last night he went the whole night (22:00-6:00) without a potty run. We're going to the vet today for a check-up and his second round of shots.
Okay, enough about our dog.
It's almost Christmas and Manuel is chomping at the bit to open his presents. Last night we each opened one that the other chose just because he CANNOT wait. Not that I wasn't happy with the present I was able to open - it was a gorgeous cocktail dress from Banana Republic. And we have tons more presents under the tree (it's kind of ridiculous the number of gifts we have for just two people).
Ugh, this morning I opened the pantry to find thousands of tiny ants because SOMEONE put his opened Teddy Grahms in there. I hate ants more than any insect in the world; this was not a good start to my day! He denied putting them in there - if he didn't, then who did?! WTF? And he keeps trying to put non-food garbage in the garbage disposal. This morning I fished out the plastic that comes on a new carton of ice cream....that he put in there two days ago! I don't know, lately he's been very lazy. I REFUSE to be a beaten down housewife. I will not allow him to laze around the house after work!
I need to accomplish some projects today: unpack at least one box, clean the bookcase, and finish painting shelves. Perhaps tomorrow I can start refinishing a dresser.
Ciao ragazzi!
