So I am currently sitting in my hotel room in Branson, Missouri. I am on vacation 2 of 2. My first vacation started last saturday when Shaun, Tom, Chelsea & I (Tom & Chelsea are my soon to be brother & sister in law) left for our Oregon Coast vacation. We sent saturday night at Chelsea's grandparents house in Boise, Idaho & then headed towards Cannon Beach, Oregon on Sunday.
Monday we spent the day shopping. We went to Costco to get food then headed to Fred Meyer to do some clothes shopping. We were going to go to the factory outlet stores, but decided not to go until Tuesday morning before Kim (my future father in law) needed to head to the airport to pick up Bryon & Kari & their 3 kids. Tuesday afternoon Shaun & I went to downtown Cannon Beach to look at some of the shops. I ended up helping Shaun buy a kite for his birthday. Then that night we did cake for Bryon, Shaun (his birthday is tomorrow & I'm not going to be there to celebrate with him =( ) and James' birthdays and pretty much just chilled around the house. Shaun & I ended up going for a walk on the beach. It was fun because there were a lot of campfires going. I LOVE the smell of campfires!!! Wednesday was family picture day on the beach & then I had to head to Portland to get on a plane so that I could head home for vacation number 2.
Thursday night my parents, my grandma & I got on a plane to St. Louis, Missouri. Once we got our rental car & found our hotel room we decided to go find some food... We had not a clue where we were so we just kept driving. A lot of the streets right now are one way streets because of all the flooding that has gone on here in Missouri. We did eventually find some food & our way back to the hotel.
Friday we spent the day in The Arch & in downtown St Louis. We were able to ride a tram to the top of the Arch & look down from the tower that stand 630 feet up in the air. We also watch a movie on the making of the Arch. It took them over 3 years to finally complete it. It was pretty amazing. Usually on the 4th of July they have a big celebration at the Arch, but due to the flooding they had to move all the food & entertainment to a park downtown. We did end up watching the fireworks that were done on a barge on the river.
Saturday we went to the historic district of St Charles (this is were our hotel actually was) & went to the Riverfest that they were having. We then ended up doing a little shopping & then drove up into Illinois. We were trying to find where the Mississippi & the Missouri rivers met, but were unable to get to the spot due to the flooring. The road that we need was closed. On our way back to the hotel we went to a new community the was being developed down the road from St Charles called New Town. We found a little ice cream shop & ate it then headed back to the hotel room where we spent the rest of the night relaxing.
Today we spent most of the day driving for St Louis to Branson. We did stop along the way at the Meramac Cavern, where we spent an hour walking around looking at the different formations. It was pretty cool. The best part of it was the temperature! 60 Degrees!!! So VERY nice! We also stopped at a Russell Stovers chocolate outlet & a cheese factory outlet the was right next door.
The next two days we be spent going to shows here in Branson & then we will be heading to Kanas City for a couple days & then to Nauvoo for three days. Then I will get to go home to see my soon to be hubby (27 days!!!).
Well I guess I'd better head to bed... Hope all is well back home!
