Okay, I was too tired last night to upload any more pics, but here's a couple more. In Korea, it is tradition to perform a 'toljabee' on the first birthday. This entails putting items in front of the child for them to pick from. (Though parents often put the items they want their child to pick where it's easiest for them to grab!)

If they choose a book, that means they will be scholarly, if they choose money, it means they will be rich, an arrow means they will be a warrior, a knife means they will be a good cook, and if they choose the thread, which is something you put around their neck later, it means a long life.
