Got woken up early by a school to ask if I wanted to sub. Went back to sleep only to wake up a few hours later to do math homework and just get ready for the day. Had an interview at 2pm at Harlem Link Charter School. It lasted about 1.5 hours and went well enough. I think the interviewer liked me and told me he'd be in touch if I was going to be asked back to do a demo lesson and another round of interviews. He told me I'd probably do 4th grade and since the school's still new I'd be establishing a lot of the curriculum. I'd have a co-teacher (every class is like that) so at least there'd be some support there, but he wanted to let me know that it'd be a lot of work since the school is still a start-up school. They also go 10-days longer than the public schools and the teachers have a 2 week training thing before the year starts. I'm probably going to go observe for a few hours so I can get a better sense of the school environment. (As a side note, the interviewer was also impressed by my portfolio which really made me feel good since I did put a lot of work into it.)
Then had my second ASL test, which went alright. We're going to learn to sign "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and music in general. I'm excited about that! I'm exhausted and have to get up early tomorrow since I'm subbing/demoing (?) at P.S. 75. I found out I'm doing 2nd grade in the morning and kindergarten in the afternoon. Let's hope I survive! I'll keep you all posted.
