Assault - physical and verbal.

Ok, that was not a fun 90 minutes, and not what I want to have to relive again.

If you follow me on twitter (alicephilippa there as well) you'll know that I was assaulted on the way home this evening, but you won't know the details.

Today I was in Stafford for zappery, and I caught the 18:09 Liverpool Lime Street train and got off at Hartford. I was loaded down with lappy bag, ASDA carrier bag and a small backpack (with soggy swimming kit + a bit of shopping in it). About 10 minutes from home I phoned a local Chinese take-away to order dinner. Shortly after that I spied to lads on mountain bikes riding like buggery along the pavement towards me. One was just a dark blur, the other was wearing light top and jeans. This latter as he got very close (too close for me to duck out of the way) stuck his arm out and caught me across the face. Once he was past me yelled out "tranny!"

I was as might be expected somewhat shocked by this. However, I grabbed my food from the take-away went home and scoffed it. I then phoned the non-emergency number for Cheshire Police (0845 458 0000) and spoke to the reporting officer who took the details of what had happened, and told me:
  1. that I MUST in future report all incidents of verbal abuse
  2. that someone will be out to speak to me within the hour.
By this time I'm shaking like a leaf, so decided that strong hot sweet tea was in order, as was some diazepam. I'd barely had a chance to take a sip of the tea before an officer knocked on the door.

I had to go through the whole incident again, and he has a suspicion that he knows who the culprits are, as similar description have also been given in reports of two lads creating havoc by cycling at speed on the pavements in the area. He's gone off to see if he can find them and if he does he's going to see if he can get them to drop themselves in it. He also told me to report the verbal abuse, as this is something they are targeting strongly at present.

By this time the diazepam had kicked in and I was starting to feel a little calmer, may the spirits of the four quarters bless the creators of the blessed benzodiazepines. We then had a brief chat about verbal abuse in general and he is of the same opinion as myself, in that Northwich suffers from small-town-small-mind syndrome. He also thinks that a huge number of the troublemakers have never been outside of the town which is not very culturally diverse.

So there you have it.

Alice.
