Chapter 01

Again, they had ambushed him during lunch break. What did they even want from him every single damn day? It was not like he had harmed them in some way so they had to ‘punish’ him for something. So, why did they always beat him up? “Faggot” they had called him. Why did they even think that he was gay? That was still a mystery to him. Okay, his whole appearance wasn’t very ‘manly’ and he took care of his looks like mostly only girls did… but that didn’t mean he was into boys. Or men. Whatever.

He has never been involved with a man… okay, neither with a woman but that fact was not important. Girls avoided him. Although most of them did think of him as attractive, even beautiful but nevertheless, nobody wanted to get near him. Saga, favourite beat’em up victim of some… idiots. You could risk being hit by them, too, just by trying to be friends with him.

He sighed and wiped the blood off of his lips. Not even the teachers helped him… it was a shame. Of course, they knew about his problems with these stupid jerks. But they were probably scared themselves and that’ s why they wouldn’t make a move. A grunt escapes his throat. He wasn’t weak. He could defend himself! But what should he do, if it was three or four against him? He was alone and that often meant for him: grit your teeth and get it all over with. Endure the pain, wait until it was over and then back to infirmary!

At least, the old school doctor took care of him. That was the only ‘positive’ thing about the violence he experienced every day. She was around 60 years old and, well, exactly like you’d imagine your ‘dream-grandma’. Loving, a bit chubby and always with a warm smile on her lips. She often had to worry about her little Saga. Actually his name was Takashi Sakamoto but - after hours of discussing - he had finally convinced the old lady of his nickname ‘Saga’. Well, it just sounded a lot better than the former ‘Taka-chan’. Today, he was again on his way to her.

A bit of her disinfectants, a few plasters and everything was fine again. It wasn’t like he really needed these things but he loved visiting Haruka-san. You could say, as his emotional plaster. It just felt soothing to talk normally to someone. After all, he didn’t have any friends at school. At least not on his school.

At a hurried pace, he went to the infirmary and opened the door. “Hello, Haruka-san!”, he called happily as he saw her. However, he was surprised as he entered the room: Haruka was not alone. A young, black-haired man was also there. Err, who was that? He had a somehow longish face with prominent features and ebony eyes. He couldn’t be a student because he appeared to be around 25. He was wearing a simple, dark jeans and a black shirt with a slight v-neck. And hell, he was hot. Very hot. Did he really just think that? Just ignore your weird thoughts, Saga. Hmm, sooner or later, Haruka would explain who that guy actually was and what business he had here. If he was a new teacher, he wouldn’t visit the infirmary first, would he? So it had to be for another reason.

“Oh, hello Saga-kun! So they chased you down again, hm?“, she greeted him. “I’ll go get you a spray and some plasters!”, she continued and excused herself to the still unknown adolescent.. Afterwards, she collected the mentioned items and treated Saga with them. He only grinned as she smeared some ointment on his bruises. She sterilized the ugly scratches and finally put some plasters on it.. You could always rely on her.

“Well, Saga-kun… this will probably be the last time that I treat you!”, she suddenly declared. What? Did she really just say that? He just gave her a shocked look. „What, why?!“ was the only thing he could think of. “You know… I’m getting old.”, she laughed heartily. No, no, no. He knew what she was going to tell him. It didn’t matter how old she was! He only wanted her to stick some plasters on his scrapes and just talk to him. That was all he wished for!

“I’m going to retire, Saga… I’m so sorry! Today is my final working day… I didn’t want to inform you about it because I knew it would sadden you even more”, she tried to make him understand. As if he felt any better now, when she just left him here all alone without warning! He stared at her in horror. „Please, Saga. You will be alright without me. You are my strong Taka-chan, after all!“, she carefully poked him.
His speechlessness seemed to irritate her. His brain was operating at full stretch. What should he do now every single day? With whom should he spent his lunch breaks with, when his favourite infirmary-granny wasn’t there? He didn’t have any friends here. And yes, he didn’t care about how pathetic he was acting right now just because of some old lady. He liked her very much and felt kind of attached to her. Was that such a bad thing?

„So who… is going to work here then, from now on?“, he stuttered as he found his voice again. Oh shit. That guy… “Well… Saga, I’d like to introduce you Shinji Amano. He will take my position. And, you know, he’s a real doctor! With doctoral degree and everything. Unlike me… I’m sure he will treat you as well as I did. He makes a real good impression, doesn’t he? So please trust me”, she ensured him and pointed to the black-haired man who now bowed slightly and smirked. Oh holy shit. That grin…Why did he have to be so damn attractive? No, Saga, don’t let yourself get distraced. Keep. On. Concentrating!

He knew Haruka-san pretty well, so he was sure, that this… Amano-guy was already well-informed about him always being punched by his classmates. His suspicion was confirmed as the young doctor began to speak: “You don’t have to worry. Haruka-san already told me about your current situation, so, you can come to me, if something like this happens again.” Of course ‘something like this’ will ‘happen’ again! As if they were going to leave him be just because his nanny had dumped her little Saga. Well, that would be pretty convenient, yes. But that was just not going to happen so he would still be dependent on her.

The bell was ringing, symbolizing the end of his break. “Well, Saga-kun, I have to go now. You’ll be fine, I’m sure.”, she again tried to encourage him and eventually embraced him lovingly. Okay, it was more like crushing him to death. As is right and proper for a good granny. “Alright. I wish you further success in school!” were her last words before she finally departed. He couldn’t answer her anymore, he was still too shocked about all this. But he was sure of this: she had planned to use the surprise effect and escape. Otherwise, he would be clinging to her crying and never let her go until she promised to look after him at least until his graduation. Yeah. Well. So what should he do? Haruka was gone and in future, it was only sink or swim for him. And no, the new doctor was not an option! That would be too embarrassing. He probably thought Saga was a fragile coward or something. Who knew, what Haruka else had gossiped about…

“Like I said, I am Shinji Amano and you can visit me here anytime. I’ll provide you with plasters, disinfectans and all that stuff…”, the elder blinked at him charmingly and held out his hand. Again, that gorgous smile adorned his lips. Damn, how was he supposed to get better in an infirmary when he constantly got jelly knees there? And again, no, he was not gay. No. No. But damn, everybody would soften up and become completely powerless in front of that grin.

“Uh… well, yeah. I’m sure I’ll come back here sooner or later.“ Not. “I’m Takashi Sakamoto but my friends call me ‘Saga’…”, the smaller one finally brought out and nervously shook the hand of the other but quickly pulled back afterwards. “Okay, I have to go now. Back to class… it was nice to meet you, Amano-san!”, and off he was. One second longer and he would have fainted. That was just too much for one break. First he got beaten up, then no more any Haruka. And then the super-sexy doctor. And hell, no, he didn’t just use the words ‚super’, and ‚sexy’ to describe this tall, dark-haired beauty. Never!
