Well...after a long flight..which really didn't seem that long, I've arrived in Auckland, in the hospitality of Bevan's aunt and uncle. They have picked me up from the airport at an ungodly hour of the morning and made me feel quite at home, for which I'm very grateful. I've been around Auckland a bit today...and the biggest impression it's had on me is that it really is quite Americanized. We saw a Wendy's, a Burger King, and a KFC, and I just had to laugh! I had a very Britishy dinner with meat, potatoes, and two veg, and am now contemplating my next move, which at this point looks to be finding my way onto a farm and into the countryside. I want to experience New Zealand as much as I can...an I think going on WWOOF farms will be a great way. I'm not really sure what Auckland itself really has to offer me, as I don't want to go shopping, and I'm really not going to be going out clubbing or bar hopping (at least not yet!) It was great to drive into the country today to buy strawberries and just smell the pastures - or at least a smell you can only get in the countryside. I'm still turning over getting a car in my mind....but as of yet, still unsure. I guess if I could get around by bus that would be good as well. So yes...a couple days in Auckland to catch up on my sleep..and then onward!
