Notes: This was just my take on what it would be like if Jake cheated on Edward, part of "Chronicles of a Cheater" a little collection of fics of "what if he cheated...". This is unbetad so all mistakes are mine, if you can't stand them, sorry? (: These guys are also probably pretty out of character. The banner was made by myself. Comments are appreciated.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything Twilight, that means all this is fake.
He entered the room, shoulders dropped, eyes solemn. Edward knew what was coming, and he wished he didn’t have to, he wished for once that his sense of hearing wasn’t quite as impeccable as it was. Jake was quiet, he sat on the one piece of furniture in Edward’s bedroom, eyes looking out at the forest. His tan skin was radiant, especially in the moonlight that was filtering though the glass walls of his room. The native’s mouth moved to form words but Edward’s mind retreated to the dark recesses where he could hide form the truth. He could stand behind a wall of emotionless stone. Edward wanted to cry, he wanted to hit a wall and kill him. Not Jake, not himself, Emmett. “You know I love you right?” Edward looked over at Jacob black who had his head ducted and seemed to flinch at mention of the four-letter word, he just nodded, eyes not lifting. Edward walked to his side and pushed his chin up so the two supernatural beings could see eye-to-eye.
“I know Edward, I know.”
The vampire was angry, but he was not willing to show Jake. He leaned down and captured Jake’s lips with his own, feeling the unfamiliar pull and rejection. “Do you know how lovely you are? How I wish I could have dreams because I know you would wait for me there?” Edward had always been some sort of romantic.
“I’m sorry. I’ve always classified you as something different Edward.” Jake gave a smile, eyes looking away from Edward, avoiding him. No one ever said it would be this hard. The native sighed knowing that Edward could painfully hear his thoughts, suffer through them.
“I don’t understand why.”
The rush. The feeling of doing something I wasn’t supposed to. For as long as you’ve known me Edward you’ve known I was impulsive and young. I’m sorry I haven’t had a hundred plus years under my belt. I- “I love you. Can we start over?”
Edward closed his eyes and again wished he didn’t have the ability to hear such private thoughts. “I wish,” I could call you mine, “He took something from me that I’ll never get back.”
Emm didn’t take anything you didn’t have first. It wasn’t my first time, it wasn’t my first kiss, or the first time a man touched me. Edward, you have always had ‘dibbs’ on that. I know I fucked up-
“Yes, Jacob Black, you fucked up. You fucked with someone else.” It hurt to hear it out loud, both of them cringed at the thought. Jacob had a painful face of regret plastered on. Edward looked at him before standing up, he looked back at Jake once, holding onto the door frame, knuckles whiter than usual with grit. “He took you from me.”
Jacob stood up, but it took Edward less time to dash into the woods. Jake stood still for a moment longer before stretching, as if he was letting Edward get a head start on some game of tag. Yes, he had cheated on Edward. Truthfully he didn’t know exactly why himself. Maybe it was because Edward had become insufferably protective, maybe it was because he was starting to rue the order of the Cullen house. He felt like he didn’t fit in, a black sheep among many perfect white pristine sheep.
Jacob shifted into the beautiful russet wolf he was beneath it all. He could smell Edward half a continent away, not that he was. He was on the beach in La Push. Pressing the boundaries, standing waist deep in the ocean, wishing God would just wash him away. Jacob sat at the water’s edge before sighing. “I can’t explain why I did what I did.” He shifted back into his human form wading into the water, it was cold but he closed his eyes and kept going until he was in up to his waist like Edward. “I know you want to think that everything can be explained so black and white. Well guess what Edward? I’m a fucking grey area. I didn’t know what the hell I was doing when I let Emmett- when we- I didn’t know. I wasn’t thinking. I’m a fucking teenager Edward, I didn’t know.”
The vampire glanced down at Jake, unsure of his words. “I love you. And when you slept with my brother I wasn’t sure what to do. It wasn’t like when Bella left me. Bella is… a different thing all together. I really love you, like a heart with out a beat, it doesn’t feel right between us. Maybe that’s why you felt the need to leave me. I’m not positive about that but- I know that in all my years, Jacob Black, you are the best thing to happen to me."
Edward, you are the pulse of my heart. You are the blood in my veins. You are the sun and several moons to my solar system. I couldn’t bare it without you. It was one misstep in the grand scheme of it all. Jacob stood in the ocean, water lapping at his chest as a tide rolled in, but it wasn’t anything that could knock him off his feet, nothing like Edward. “When I’m around you its like being in another world, sometimes I get lost. Sometimes yeah, I think we’re too different to somehow be what we are. But science and numbers, and nothing can tell you what we are. Its something you feel. Can you feel it?”
Edward felt the water but it made no difference. He pulled Jake to him as a wave crashed into them, the cold water drenching the two for a moment. And when their heads were again above water Edward was soaking wet but he slightly smiled, kissing Jake, his salty lips crashing into the Native’s warm ones with vigor and passion. “I love you Jacob Black.” And for a moment Jacob swore Edward was crying, despite this being an impossible feat.
Jacob kissed him back, grabbing onto the vampire’s neck pulling him into the warm embrace. He barely registered the fact Edward had begun to carry him by the hips out of the water until gravity started to have an effect and Jake wrapped his legs around the other man's waist. “I love you. Please forget that it happened. For get it. You can’t listen to your heart like haunting classical music you can only hear it here.” Jacob held Edward’s head to his chest, pulling him at an awkward angle, but it was soothing to hear his mate’s heart beat none the less. It was like the sweetest sound and the most bittersweet memory all at once.
“You are one of a kind Mr. Black.”
I know.
