Finally posting here, haha. :)
So here's some pictures I've got of my boyfriend and I's still-in-progress Hatter & Alice costumes. :)
Things still to complete:
-Paint the design on Hatter's shirt.
-actually use a wig for Hatter this time (I realized too late that the wig we were going to use had been locked up inside my college's costume shop, left over from finals!)
-find and dye more trim, add it to the bottom portion of Alice's dress
-boot covers
-make the dress fit properly so it doesn't seem like I'm wearing a sack, and hem.
-get boyfriend more used to letting me apply eyeliner on him, haha.
We wore our partially-completed costumes to ConnectiCon this summer, in Hartford, CT. The Connecticut Convention Center feels kind of Wonderland-esque outside, as the balcony level is very high up, looking over the interstate. (Pardon the unfortunate state of my hair--it was a bit windy!)

I used the same diamond-patterned Joann's fabric someone else posted on here, and FINALLY found some appropriate trim at AC Moore--unfortunately they only had 3 spools of it left, which was only enough to do the rectangular shape on the front of the dress. But they carry it regularly, so I'll have to go back and get more.
The shoes are actually a Goodwill find from a while ago that I *loved* and wanted to use in some sort of steampunk costume, but the heel and shape of the toe is perfect for Alice's, just need to cover them. :)
I couldn't find the right color tights for the life of me, so what I've actually done is layered two pairs on top of each other. One is a dark burgundy, and the other a bright red. With the red on top, I think they make almost the right color. :)
Hatter's outfit was all thrift store finds, save for the hat (JC Penney's), shoes ($3 walmart clearance!), and pants (Dickies, online somewhere)
A few people recognized us even though it's a small convention, so that was exciting. :) I got a lot of "Your outfit reminds me of Alice in Wonderland...what's it from?" remarks. xD
