No sooner do I get over a really bad cold when I get pushed up two bananas in supervisorship. I'm a permanent 3rd banana, but the top banana left and so I'm the acting 2nd banana. The permanent 2nd banana is out as is her boss so I'm in command of, not one, but two organizations. It has been a sh*tstorm of administration...performance reviews, reports, budgets, office furniture, mail, personality squabbles, cover sheets on the TPS reports, etc etc etc.
...urban dictionary definition of TPS report
In software development, a TPS Report is a quality assurance document that stands for "Testing Procedure Specification". This report is part of the IEEE 829 standards.
However, in the modern cubicle culture, TPS is an acronym meaning "Totally Pointless Stuff", which was made famous in the movie Office Space. TPS Reports are meaningless pieces of documentation that must be filled out but that nobody reads.
I went to the big brass meeting too and was in way over my head. The big TPS report went way over my head. Huh???
I just had to get back in the cockpit. Two approaches, one with the full arc, one turn and hold, two nifty landings in a mushy tailwind.
But later, I get a call to another big meeting where I didn't have time to change so I'm stuck in my flight gear in a room with everyone in formal attire. The head honcho recognized my voice. "Oh, you're the one who flew that gig last year over there. You have such a nice voice."
Awwwww.
But, in the absence of 2nd banana, I have to do the TPS Reports for two organizations. It'll be like writing a thesis. :( And, on top of all that, I just got five young men and women that I have to mentor in their pursuit towards the Academy.
I feel like I've been hit by a tsunami. I just wanna be a peon again. Responsibility does not agree with me. I do well, but it takes a huge toll.
Big thanks to Kaarlo!
I'm slogging through the Halo 4 Spartan Ops scenarios. Those are pretty fun. It's a coop against the Covenant/Forerunners. I had a good Mass Effect run with supra and llama. Shelby and I were talking about the new ME dlc about retaking Omega. It's pretty good. I enjoyed Aria and Nyreen's parts.
More trip pics.
My hotel room on the trip. The bathroom was freaking huge!
Another lovely Haleakala sunset at 7000' MSL. It's difficult to describe the quiet calm of this flight with only occasional radio chatter and the muffled sound of the turbines.
The waterslide! This is like not even a tenth of the whole slide and pool.
Rainbow in the crater of the volcano from 14,000' MSL. I've got the bird up in a left bank to get the pic.
Par 4 on the Emerald Course. I shot a 104, the best 18 holes of golf ever for me. I had one 56 yard stroke from inside a sand trap and I used my sand wedge to pitch it right on the green, two feet from the hole. With a rented 1 Wood, I was driving 200 yards from the tee.
The rock garden and pond.
