Islands in the Atlantic
HI. I AM IN ICELAND.
I see that I didn't post at all in August (oops?) and Tumblr already knows all of these things, but I feel so bad for neglecting LJ this much. AND DID I MENTION I'M IN ICELAND.
My sister was here for the first few days and we did all the normal touristy things, so I've been spending the time once she left settling into my apartment (well, room) and buying groceries (I MISS HAVING MY OWN KITCHEN SO MUCH ALREADY OH MY GOD) and all of that stuff. We had orientation meetings yesterday, and I met a lot of the kids in the program, and everyone seems cool so far. Classes start on Monday, so we'll see how the return to academia goes. (I'm thinking it won't be good, but I've been relieved to see that a lot of the kids are as unprepared as me for that, and that I actually might have a stronger language (if not literature) background than a lot of them, so there's a lot less stress in that aspect).
It still feels pretty unreal, though, tbh. I had a moment yesterday while sitting on my fucking window seat overlooking the harbor that I was actually finally fucking here, but then it was just like, FEELS OVERLOAD, so I immediately went back to mindlessly scrolling on Tumblr 'cause I can't handle that shit all at once like that.
But the city is wonderful and it's pretty much impossible to get lost (UNLESS YOU GET ON A BUS, BECAUSE THEN ALL BETS ARE OFF, TRUST ME I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE) and it's windy and chilly and friendly and I need to find me a Scandinavian girlfriend (or boyfriend I'm not picky) because these people are BEAUTIFUL.
Pictures will come in a different post because the one redeeming thing about LJ versus DW is Scrapbook.
OKAY I LOVE ALL OF YOU and I am still mostly keeping up with you all, even if I totally suck at communication and it feels like I've dropped off the face of the planet. (I haven't; I'm just ALMOST AT THE ARCTIC CIRCLE, HELLO WHAT).
