In Which I Lose My Apparently Tenuous Grasp on Being Cool, Calm, and Collected Re: Fandom Wank
Oh, by all means, people on Tumblr. Continue to express your disgust and shock and 'omg how could you' revulsion over Sam/Dean (or over incest pairings in general). Keep telling me that a "scary" or "obnoxious" amount of the fandom ships it, or that shipping it "makes me deserve a seat in Hell." Like, really?
Are we in 8th grade again, fandom? Wank/hate like this rarely, rarely bothers me. I like to think I've developed a thick enough skin over the years to just avoid and/or ignore it, and certainly not to make fucking posts about it in my LJ.
But go ahead. You haters keep on hatin'. I'll sit here and fail miserably at not giving a fuck.
Like, I realize incest's not everyone's cup of tea, but could us fangirls/boys please take our own advice and learn from our own collective past experiences and not bash ships and, perhaps more importantly (to me, at least), the people who ship them?
Fandom, stop fucking letting me down, okay? You have always oscillated wildly between "We accept everyone!" and "We hate everyone!" and I get that; I've come to accept that. Usually it just kinda makes me lol from where I've camped out at a safe distance from the the resulting wank, but DON'T GO FOR THE INCEST, OKAY? It is one of my token issues (if not my only token issue) and it will never fail to get a reaction out of me.
Incest is a huge part of what/why/how I do in fandom, and I will defend that shit with my dying breath. (Never mind the fact that you are talking about Sam/Dean in particular--the motherfucking OTP, one of the very few ships that I will like, GO DOWN IN A MAGNIFICENT FIERY WRECK WITH).
