Conquer This World
Kind of a drive-by update between classes:
First off, read it: broken boy soldier, by thisissirius. Percy/Nico, ~2k. But be sure to read her warnings. She doesn't want to spoil it, so I won't either, but they're important.
Secondly, one of my professors asked me the other day what grad schools I was applying to, and I had to tell her that I still had no idea. A summer of searching really didn't give me any definite idea. I'm pretty much "Eh," about all of them.
EXCEPT THIS. I've been looking at UI for years now, and this programme is really the only thing I can see myself doing in a year that will make me happy.
I have one more class that I haven't been to yet, and then I'll probably update about 'em. How are all of you? TELL ME YOUR SCHOOL STORIES.
Also, if you're at all interested in/following the Muslim community center and ground zero drama in the US right now, I suggest reading this entry by setissma. It's a really well-written reflection that sums up my feelings about it pretty well. (And is much more eloquent than my ANGER and INCOHERENCY). (Just FYI, it's not so much pro-community center as it is pro-acceptance and getting over the fear of the misunderstood. It's not overly political in either direction).
