Joining The Ranks...

As I'm sure most of you know by now, LJ IS MADE OF FAIL.

So yes, I'm adding myself to the thousands of other people who now have to politely request that you chose not to crosspost anything you comment on in my journal to Facebook or Twitter. I know they're your comments, and you should be able to do what you want with them, but as they'll link to my journal...well, you know. LJ soundly and effectively overriding their privacy settings in one stupid move FTL.

I don't see this being a problem with any of you guys 'cause you're awesome and all of that, but I figured I'd make this post, just in case. :(

It's just that, the more I read about this feature, the angrier I become. You can crosspost screened comments? You can crosspost comments to posts of any security? As 888mph reminded me, most people quote the entries they're commenting on; and it's not like comments to flocked or private posts won't also have inappropriate or personal content. Everyone who's flocked their journals, or made their communities members only, or did anything else to protect their content (quite often because of something LJ has done in the past) have essentially done it for NO REASON AT ALL.

ALSO, WTF NO "/" IN TAGS ANYMORE. I AM SPEECHLESS WITH RAGE AND UTTER CONFUSION RIGHT NOW, ABOUT ALL OF THIS. [EDIT:] Okay, so the tag thing was accidental, apparently, thank God. Still, how do you screw something like that up, eljay?

I just really hope LJ actually listens to us about this one, because this isn't just us (ie fandom) bitching about stupid harmless features. This is a serious privacy/security issue that affects everyone, and alters the content we feel comfortable posting (if we feel comfortable posting AT ALL now) that makes LJ such the community they've always said was the point of LJ.

I'm alice_pike over at DW, too, jsyk.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled (I mean, edited and censored) posting.
