My random attempts to declutter this house have varying results. It has just occurred to me that my Girlguiding name is a little too appropriate. The girls call me...Squirrel. Hmmm
A few weeks ago a pile of stuff was corralled into a box and the plan was it would all make it to various charity shops. Two items were jigsaws. One I knew was complete. The second was a Christmas gift from my brother several years ago. My brother has a strange sense of humour. I unwrapped my present to reveal a box of Frosties. Inside the box of Frosties was a waxed paper bag containing Frosties and 1000 jigsaw pieces. This was a reference to a joke about David Beckham.
I rescued the pieces and he gave me the original box. The jigsaw is of a tiger.
In order to give away this jigsaw I need to a) do it to see if the pieces are all there and b) ensure the pieces are clean and non sticky.
That jigsaw has taken WEEKS. I have never had a more difficult job. However today it was completed and perfectly clean so went to its new home.
As I carried the box o'junk to the new destination I was running through the history of the items. I don't have many things I cannot 'source'.
1) Tiger jigsaw as above
2) Comedy jigsaw given to me by Liz (old lady who died last year)
3) Copy of Little Dorrit purchased on a book raid with Imyril.
4) Comedy books about cats, probably from my Brother or Mother.
5) A small shiny metal tin shaped like a book and engraved "Wishes". Inside is a scroll and 6 metal dandelion clock seeds. The scrolls instrucks you to blow on each seed to send a wish into the wind. It was a gift from a school friend about 15 years ago. Obviously unused.
6) A green plastic paperweight containing a scorpion. *shrugs* I suspect this was my Brother but I have no reference memory for this.
7) A green and blue glass dish, a goodbye gift from a work colleague 4 years ago. Unused and still boxed. Pretty if you like that colour scheme.
I would have taken more but I am nursing my back.
Meanwhile I would like the karma fairy to note I did a nice thing today, and dont forget the weeks of jigsaw stress) so can Everton PLEASE win tonight.
Thank you.
BTW Do you like jigsaws? I know they are associated with old ladies now but we always had loads when I was a kid. Most of the time there was one on the go on the spare table. Sometimes it is the perfect brainless exercise.
