PEEKABOO
I hardly dare to show up here again....i am still alive, if somebody worried ;-S
The last few weeks of work are always the hardest and now there is only one week to go...so the pile of work is getting less ;)
However next to work there are some other things to tell!

INJECTIONS
For the first time of my life i did not faint when i had to get injections for our trip (hepatitus A and DTP) yeehoo!
For the most of you this will be a piece of cake, but for me it is really  something to be proud off!
I had this since i was 10 years old or so! Ask my mum and some friends for all the drama :(.

PAPERBIENNALE 2006
With my mum i visited a new museum in Apeldoorn, where i used to live with my mum and dad.
The building was very beatiful and the exhibition about paper-artists was brilliant!
So much inspiration and amazement!!!

Artists:
Nel Linssen
Makes jewellery out of paper, beautiful structures and colours!
(and is a mother of an old collegue of mine, the world is small sometimes)

Chun, kwang-young
Makes paintings with little wrapped paper parcels(with Korean mullberyy paper), when you look at his work from  a distance you don't see that the painting is build up out of thousand of little parcels!!!
be-au-ti-ful!!!

Tomoko ishida
Uses paper fibes to create objects and floating artworks, very fragile.

Marian Smit
Little rolls of paper on thousands of threats, all together make a marvelous big scupture hanging in a room

FRANZ FERDINAND
Last week, on a tuesday evening, we saw Franz Ferdinand live in Tivoli, Utrecht.
We went there together with
grammaticameid and Hans.
And my goodness, it was a hell of a show! Danced and jumped the whole show!
They are nice entertainers and very good musicians!
I felt really lucky to get these tickets for the show, as they were sold out in half an hour!!!
(However the supporting act was really rediculous!!!! The band was called 'the sound of zzzzzzzzzzzzzz' , it was annoying and stupid! )

THIS IS AMERICA
At this moment there is an exhibition about artists and how they see America, and the influence of America on the world in Utrecht at the Centraal Museum.
sturnusvulgaris and me went to this exhibition and we were very impressed! VERY IMPRESSED!!!
Impressed by there message, not the art it self so much!
You entered the exhibition by some neo light words switching from 'hello there'  to 'hell here' ...

Works that DID something were:

Donna Conlon, video work 'Espectos Urbanos'
A skyline view of (i think) Manhattan and the sky line if being rebuild with garbage

Donna Conlon, video work 'A suprice bag'
Somebody gets a big present, but when opening it,  a new plastic bag keeps appearing, opening up the plastic bag and another smaller plastic bag appears, this goes on till there's only a little bag left, and you never know what was in this little bag!

Martin Le Chevallier, interactive video work, 'Le Papillon'
You see the career of a man, growing from an everage person to president, however the watcher is the one who leeds the story, by pushing a button, you can change things in his life, and it seems with pushing this button, things go wrong in his life and somehow, while watching the film you keep pushing the button, somehow we want to see this man 'suffer'??? Or is envy and jealousy something that is in us all??? Very tricky art!!!

Lucy Orta
'Nexus Architecture x50-Peace intervention 25th june 2004'
An group of army costumes covered with gold and text, hung up in lines.
All empty persons with bags over their heads.
You might have seen more of her work as she worked with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers as well for one of their videos (where the singer is wearing a tent and the guitarist is placed in a garbage can)

Candice Breitz
Video work  'Mother and Father'
You step into a room and watch 6 actors in black background, 6 females and 6 males.
You see the females as mother, all are taken from different films, but are now situated next to each other and some interaction starts between the females, somehow all the females act the same as a mother figure, it really a weird thing to discover, as when you wathc the films separed yoo don't see or notice it!
The same thing happens with the males, all eventually act the same!

Jan van Nuenen
Animation ' Warning, Petroleum Pipeline'
I think this was my favorite. An animation about how quikly a farmer landscape is transformed into an industial area, all in black and white, very well done!!!

Heather & Patrick Burnett - Rose
Videowork 'Asylum'
This made me sad and angry!!!
The work was build up with all kind of  scenes from war, contradictions, guns, death, etc.
I couldn't watch it all, as it was to heavy for me, i even cryed (yes, i am a sissy!)
Have you ever cried in a museum??? Well i didn't!

WEATHER
We can start getting used to hot weather already at home, it was 31 degrees in the shade this afternoon,
so Marocco will be peanuts...(i hope!)
