France to ... err...France!

Hi all

Sorry I havent been updating but I have been in places that are more or less internet free! Yes, its been a struggle for me to have to go cold turkey on internet but I survived.

Ill start from the start...

Very early in Montmatre, my alarm went off which meant it was time to get up and go to the aeroport. Those who know me know how cheery I am in the morning but I survived. Bron and I caught the metro and the bus to Orly airport (including waiting at one metro station which said the train wasnt coming!) and had to say goodbye very quicky on a very crowded bus which was a bit sad since I wont see her til may now. So I deaded into the airport and since we had planned to be on time for Brons flight, it meant I was like 3 hours early for mine! I went to a little cafe in the airport where I ordered in French and the guy behind the register told me I looked like Father Christmas in a black hat...hmm, thanks. The flight all went smoothly. When I got to Portugal and cleared customs I met up with Marie which was tres exciting to see another friendly face!

In Portugal we stayed with Maries dad who lives in a little town outside of Porto called Regadas. All of the houses have chickens in the gardens and many have sheep too! Also ots of people have dogs. It was a week for me to have a bit of a break...the first day I went to bed for a nap at 3pm and slept until 9am the next morning- thats how tired I was!! During the week there we relaxed, went shopping alot with members of Maries family, ate alot and mimed various words for Maries dad and his girlfriend. I also took a bit of an interest in the chickens in the garden and went to check for eggs far more often than they were going to be there. There was really a rural feel- one night we ate a chicken from the backyard and we ate veggies from the garen nearly everyday.

There is lots of delicious food in Portugal and I cant wait to try and make it for you all!!

Marie and I flew back to Paris where; to my extreme excitement, it was snowing!!! It was even snowing at Maries godmothers place so one of Maries cousins took me to go and get his daughter from school so I could go walking in the snow!! I also made a snow man and had a snow fight! I felt like I was in a book! None of the people I tried to explain that to really understood; for them the snow is really annoying. Needless to say it is absolutley freezing, bqsically always under 0 and this morning it was -11! Brrrr

Maries mother is really lovely and hospitable (not to mention an amazing chef) who is worried I will tell Dad that she doesnt feed me. I think ive gained 10 kilos just from being at her place. Everyone (there is always a cousin or son or daughter at her place) said my french has im^proved which is lovely to hear since I put the study in!
It is so nice to be able to communicate !!! It has put some faith in my ability to speak frencyh and definetley ignited a passion to keep going!!!
