It depends...
If it's a meeting in the office, I usually listen carefully, make notes and - yes! - participate in the discussion.
If I'm not involved and it's all just FYI, then I draw things and characters in the notebook.
While in the university, I used to play on-a-piece-of-paper games with co-students. And there was a PARTICULARLY boring class, where I even had to pinch myself to stay awake... I just counted minutes left on the bottom of the notebook, so it looked like 48 41 37 33 29 27 22 15 12 9 6... lol
