amazon orders

I have to admit I'm hooked on amazon.ca. Last Christmas I did almost all my shopping exclusively at amazon. It's easy to get hooked by the fact they deliver and you don't have to schlep around the malls or drive through blizzards to go shopping. I also love the fact that I can order 'white' goods (linens, towels, sheets, etc.) from the States where they are MUCH cheaper than in Canada - I bought a lovely shower curtain, for instance, for only $5.00 from amazon that came from the U.S.A. and the same thing here would have cost around $50.00 in the shops by comparison. It's a fabric curtain with a beautiful design and not at all cheap or shoddy looking. The difference in prices between our two countries is quite amazing for some things.

For a long time now I've been debating with myself about buying another laptop or an iPad instead. I currently use a 2012 HP product that was not too expensive but has Windows 8 plus a 64-bit flash player which I need for gaming. Recently I was looking at an Alienware gaming laptop that had me salivating but the thing cost around $1,600 and I felt I couldn't afford it atm. I was also looking at the iPad minis and the difference in price is incredible, plus you can download some games not available if you don't have a product that supports IOS, so I went with the iPad for $300. It's supposed to be delivered this afternoon. I already own a Kindle Fire and it's fine, but again, I can't get some of the games I want like Clash of Clans, Hay Day and Plants vs Zombies 2 and the iPad mini is bigger. We'll see how it goes and down the line I can still get my Alienware gaming laptop when I save up the $1,600 for it.

Because I like to binge-watch British crime drama TV series on Netflix but sometimes it doesn't have all the ones I want to see or I may want to own one of the series, I also ordered some DVDs. Don't get me wrong - some of the American shows are fantastic too - like Orange is the New Black which I binge-watched (the entire series so far) in one week - but I just ordered Broadchurch and the 2006-2008 Robin Hood with Richard Armitage (okay, it's not a crime drama but it's lovely) as well as The Exorcist on BluRay (I'm a horror film aficionado too). I have just finished watching Happy Valley on Netflix and just started The Bletchley Circle. I may order the DVDs of those shows later. Happy Valley was just an amazing show.

On TV itself right now I'm enjoying The Bridge and Outlander and just started watching Legend with Sean Bean. But I'll save writing about all my favourite regular TV shows for another post.
