Yay, creative stuff.
Alas, the December part of my Winter Baking Bonanza is now over. Sad face. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next, but here are my last two attempts.
First are the mince pies, which really ended up being more mince squares, since I used too much mixture for the lids. They tasted nice though, mostly because I added way too much butter. Well, I wasn't allowed to use liquid at all in the pastry, but I also had to get it into a big ball, and it wasn't sticking together. More butter was the only solution to this problem. It was still very crumbly, but yummy nonetheless.
Then I made brownies for a couple of my cousins, and they were awesome. Brownies are the one thing I never fail at. I AM BROWNIE QUEEN.
For Christmas, I knitted scarves for a few people. They are awesome scarves, because they use special wool, so they come out all fluffy and twirly and exciting.
I'm also planning a sewing project, which is exciting. I'm planning on turning this:
into something vaguely attractive. This was a Christmas present from my mum and it's hideous (I'm free to say that because she got it super-cheap and wasn't sure I'd like it anyway). But it's a good excuse for sewing practice. I'm going to change the sleeves (you might not be able to tell from the picture, but they are attached to the dress so whenever you lift your arms up you risk flashing the room) and removing all those silver things and replacing them with something pretty. Possibly going to use it as an excuse to sew buttons onto everything (what is it with buttons that makes them so exiciting?) But might do embroidery instead. Going to do something around the hem as well, because there is way too much going on up top and nothing going on on the skirt, which is not good when you are well-endowed, because unless the skirt flares out (which this one doesn't) it just makes you look really top heavy.
I also today took stock of my nail polishes, because I am planning. I made a list of them, including the pretentious names most of them came with (I geniunely saw one in the shop today called Sulk. Seriously. Who buys a nail polish called Sulk??)
Liquorice - Black
Black - Yeah, just regular black
Gold - Again, no effort was made here to name the colour something pretentious or silly.
Grey - Not very exciting, and I can't remember why I bought it now.
Dark purple - I have two of these, slightly different shades, but not enough to mark them seperately.
Sloe berry - Dark purple (Which is a different enough purple to have it's own entry on the list, plus it has a name)
Green With Envy - Metallic green
Star Dust - Silver
Movie Star - Metallic/glittery red
Blue My Mind - Metallic blue
Bongo Beat - Metallic turquoise
Jitterbug - Silvery blue
Purple heart - Purple or green, depending on the light. I love this colour.
Cupric - Light orange
Palevioletred - Pinkish-purple (and that's not a typo; it really is written all as one word)
Beetroot - Very dark red (almost brown)
Cadet Blue - Electric blue
Moonrock - Shimmery lilac
Gold Glitter Top Coat - Yeah, pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. You put it over your regular nail polish, and it gives it a glittery gold sheen. I'm assuming; I've not actually tried it. You can also use it on its own, but it needs like three or four coats then and that would use up most of the bottle if you did it for every nail.
Here they are:
For Christmas I also got a wooden fish (don't ask why, my mum puts some weird things in my stocking) which I have now painted to look exciting. Well. Shiny, anyway. I don't know why he refused to have his picture taken not blurry, but here he is.
I have yet to name him, any ideas?
Finally, here's my cat, looking a little irritated that I disturbed her sleep to flash a bright light at her.
For no reason, but I thought that for those of you who are left cold by nail polish and knitting (people who don't have quite such a wild and crazy life as me, obviously) might be brought back by the kitty cat. She has recently discovered the apparent delight of sleeping in my wardrobe. As you can see, my cat is quite dark. Much of my clothing is quite dark. I spent five minutes the other day rearranging my wardrobe before I even noticed she was there. She blends in so well. SHE IS A MASTER OF CAMOUFLAGE.
