My Laptop Apparently Dislikes Me Podficcing

Aug 25, 2011 16:19

Goddammit, why is it everytime I go to record a bit more of the FCPF (Freak Camp Pod Fic, as it shall now be known) (my laptop, usually just called Sylvester) starts wheezing away like an asthmatic. You have no reason to be doing this, Sylvester, I'm not playing The Sims, I'm not making you do anything strenuous. So, dammit, calm down and be quiet. I can't record with you wheezing like that, remember last time? You completely runined the recording, and it was probably you that caused those echoy bits. I mean, I've stopped it now, but I still don't know what was doing it, and I suspect you were behind it.

I'm going to need a lot of cheerleading during this podfic. I can't talk to anyone in RL about it, because it's like "so I'm making an audio book of a story about a concentration camp for supernatural being, with characters from my favourite show -" "The one with the pretty boys in it?" "Dammit, it's a lot more complex than that!" People who do not move in fandom circles just don't get it.

Although, according to Lavinia, I have a refined voice. So that's nice!

Incidently, his full name isn't Sylvester. His full name is The Right Honourable-Except-When-He's-Messing-Me-About Sylvester II, Lord Of All My Free Time And Often My Not-Free-Time As Well, He-Who-Apparently-Has-Some-Sort-Of-Grudge-Against-Podfics. If he gains any further titles, I'll let you all know.

Dammit, Sly, I'm buying you a pretty new skin so you won't get anymore scratched, and it was bloody expensive too. What more do you want from me???

(PS: Yes, most if not all my posts in the foreseeable future are going to be about this podfic. It is consuming my life, let me tell you. But I am working on a new fic. Not a very long one, but it's for a prompt fest, so it will at least actually get finished, unlike the - I kid you not - twenty thousand pages I have of unfinished fanfiction sitting on my computer in only two seperate documents. Staring at me. Judging me.)
