Bonjour friends!
so.. i'm in france
my town (Aix-en-Provence) is so cute!
it is unlike any other place i've been in europe.
everything is so compact, i fit right in.
ha, it was great- a french girl came up to me and asked *i think for directions..
i was just excited that she thought i was french or knew my way around.
my host is pretty cool. strict, but i understand.
she knows a lot of english so it's easy, but she and her daughter, sophie, are out of town all week and we're staying with her parents who don't speak any english. we have to have conversations though a dictionary.
the best story i have so far regarding the language barrier:
i tried to tell my grandma that i was full or "plain" and she just started laughing- i didn't know why. the next day in french 101 i find out that i told her that "i am a pregnant animal." which is always good.
i have another american living with me- anne- who is awesome.
they did a really good job pairing us up..
we're 2 of the 7 who don't speak french.
life is very different here, but we've adjusted pretty well
the kids on the trip are so amazing. i love my new friends.
it's cool cause there are like 6 people here that go to UA and i hang out w/ 3 of them on a regular basis.
this weekend we're going on a trip with the school to Nice and Monaco- it should be a blast.. then next weekend i think around 10 of us are going to Barcelona. we've already made a bunch of travel plans. i can't wait to go exploring through the rest of europe.
