Patches
As most of you know, I have a cat named Patches. I love her to death. She and I have a very close bond, and everytime I go home she greets me at the door with excitement. Recently, I've noticed that everytime I visit home, she's lost more and more weight continuously. We were originally thinking that she was depressed when I left, which I think was true last year, but in the past few months we've started feeding her twice as much as usual. She's usually very dainty and eats only a little, then walks away. Lately she's been acting as if she was starving to death and would scarf down all the food in sight, and was still losing weight. This scared me, so I told my mom that she needed to go to the vet. My Mom took her, and sure enough, she has a hyperactive thyroid. This means that her thyroid has been digesting her food faster than she can use it to maintain a healthy weight. She has to have medication and it hopefully won't be a problem any longer.
