Music for a Summer Evening, proclaimed the concert flyer. Mind you this is England so come this Saturday the lovely summer weather we had been experiencing takes a decided turn for the worse and the temperature plummets to a chilly 11 degrees C. Cold enough outside, but add an old stone, unheated church into the mix and you're talking refrigerator temperatures! At least I was part of the choir belting out Pergolesi's Magnificat not a member of the audience sitting in the uncomfortable wooden pews. I spotted gloves and scarves in the mix... hard to believe we'd all be sporting t-shirts a few days ago! No wonder the weather is always a topic of conversation in the UK.
