"The Wolf"
Harry, Remus, and Sirius (lurking in the space between the words). Adventures in the House of Ennui. PG.
Cut tag by the Velvet Teen.

He waits for the greater silence as every day goes faster, a cipher he knows too well, of killing himself by looking closer. )

What an excellent ending. You completely robbed me of Harry's reasoning and yet by leaving it there, I could write a million of my own endings.

He pictures himself crashing through the roof, through each floor, and the old wood would snap underneath his weight. He knows the sound it'd make, knows it with a deep, visceral certainty.

I really enjoyed this, because it gives me the feeling that flying is as scary as it is exhilarating; imagining what could happen if you just fell... I loved that.

the subtext is just out of reach for me, so i didn't quite get it, which could be a "past my bedtime" thing or could be a me-thing. i do, however, really like the way you've described the house, and remus, and the cup with the vines. mmm, magical cups.

there's not actually a whole lot of subtext. i am habitually vague, though, that could be it.

my love for that house is deep and true, man. best minor character ever.

for some reason, when i read "magical cups" i thought of those cups with the water and the glitter and the moving things inside. like, not in the cup itself, but in between the cup...walls, i guess. um. nevermind.

Mmm, so good. I love the descriptions and all of the small details, like the cup and the self-cleaning glass and Harry playing solitaire, and I especially love this: The sun's as gold as a snitch and he flies with his hand reaching for it. Mmmm. <3

I liked Harry's letter to Hermione, especially the bit about actually finishing the book, but Harry saying "You-Know-Who" felt kind of off. At first I thought it would make sense for him to be writing in code, in case the owl was intercepted etc etc, but pretty much any wizard who caught the owl would know who You-Know-Who is anyway, wouldn't they? It just didn't feel quite right.

Everything else was absolutely perfect, though. Everything always is. Damn you for being so good.

I wasn't sure about that, either, but I vaguely remember Hermione shushing Harry whenever he said Voldemort's name, and so it was kinda...I guess like in deference to her, or something. Plz correct me if I'm wrong; my grasp on canon is shaky at best.
