Ack, you guys. THINGS:
Work has been kind of nightmarish lately.
This is the result of a combination of things: 1. Two of my coworkers left within the last two weeks. 2. Two new employees started last week. 3. Last week was also crazy busy because of a lot of events happening in the neighborhood at the same time.
#3 is obviously a moot point now that the week is over, but #1 and #2 are just... ugh. I'm really sad that those two ladies are gone, both because they were super hard workers who were super good at their jobs, and because they'd also become two of my closest friends. And I'm not thrilled about having to train new people. Plus, one of them does not read sarcasm at all, which is going to be difficult for me since sarcasm is my first language. I'm going to have to work really hard to watch what I say.
Aaaand to top it off, my boss is changing up my schedule big time. It looks like I'll be working mostly mornings from now on? Maybe? My schedule for this week is kind of ridiculous?
Long story short: Hi, my name is Alibi, and this is my life partner Anxiety.
On a more upbeat note, my birthday was lovely! I somehow managed to extend festivities throughout the entire weekend, because I am sneaky and my friends and family are too good to me. I absolutely love that my birthday falls in late September, because that means it's a relatively good bet that it'll fall on/around a holiday. Last year it fell on Rosh Hashanah. This year it fell the day before Erev Sukkot, so we had late birthday dinner in the sukkah in my backyard. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't fall on Yom Kippur anytime soon.
Young Justice continues to be one of the best/worst thing that's ever happened to me. Best because my favorite part is EVERY PART. Worst because OW, MY HEART. I love them all so much and I just want to take them and lock them up in a safe place with no sharp corners and keep them there forever. MY HEART CAN ONLY BREAK SO MANY TIMES, OKAY?
Also, PSA that I have not read The Mark of Athena yet, so no spoilers, pretty pretty please!! I did, however, order it today, along with
this and
this and
this, courtesy of the gift card my stepdad gave me for my birthday. Because obviously you buy YA novels with your 23rd birthday gift card, duh.
Okay, I'm going to go read and be anxious and then watch Call the Midwife and then go to bed obscenely early so I can get up in time for my 8 AM shift tomorrow. Who actually starts work in the morning? Who does that??
