You were acting super casual, so I thought the fire was on purpose.

Okay, so! It only took me forever, but here are my answers to the five things meme. All answers are in arbitrary order. Behind cuts to spare your f-lists!

For zinnia_rose: My top 5 male and female celebrity crushes. With pictures!

The Guys:

1. Michael Landon

I've had a thing for him since way back in the day when I first got into Bonanza. My mom tried to convince me that Pernell Roberts was where it was at, but come on, it's Michael Landon. Just look at him. (I actually think he was even better looking when he was a little older, but alas, I couldn't find a good picture.)

2. Cary Grant

AKA: Why is everyone I love dead? So suave. So charming. Sigh.

3. Sean Connery

I've never had a crush on literary!Bond, because I'd rather be Bond than be with Bond. But I've always been a little in love with movie!Bond, because he's not really Bond-- he's Sean Connery as Bond. And Sean Connery wears a tux and a suit like no one's business.

4. Jensen Ackles

Jensen Ackles is seriously one of the prettiest people I've ever laid eyes on. He's so good-looking it's almost ridiculous. Wow.

5. Matthew Pearl

I... don't know that Matthew Pearl counts as a celebrity, but truth be told, he's the only person on either of these lists who I actually have a crush on, rather than just thinking s/he is really good-looking. He wrote The Dante Club, my #1 favorite book of all time, he's an overall terrific writer, he's super kind to and communicative with his fans, and he's insanely smart. I've definitely got a school-girl crush on him.

The Ladies:

1. Liz White

ASLGJLGR JUST LOOK AT HER. SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL THAT I CAN'T EVEN. HER SMILE. GOOD LORD.

2. Michaela Conlin

Oh my word, Michaela is so lovely. She's so sunny and sparkly. I smile every time I see pictures of her. Heee.

3. Ania Bukstein

I've only seen Ania Bukstein in one thing. It was this really weird Israeli movie called Aretz Hadasha that had this flying bear that freaked me out, and Ania was only 16 and her character was really awkward and... Anyway, I was looking her up online when I was writing a paper on Aretz Hadasha, and I kid you not: when I saw this picture of what she looks like now, I laughed out loud, because she's so insanely gorgeous that it's ridiculous. It should be illegal for people to be this good-looking.

4. Shara Worden

Yeah, so, except for grainy videos on YouTube, I'd never even seen what Shara Worden looked like before I looked up a picture for this meme. But when she sings as the Queen on The Hazards of Love, it fills a hole in my soul that I didn't even know was there.

5. I... don't have a fifth! But if I think of one, I will add her later!

For tempertemper: My top 5 ships.

1. Hodgins/Angela from Bones

This relationship is seriously my very favorite part of Show right now. They're so happy and in love and-- as antistar_e so eloquently put it-- functional, and they make my fangirl heart so insanely happy. Remember way back when he asked her to "be my love" with glowing shrimp? And how she's the only one who can read his secret code!handwriting? And how he carried around her ring in his wallet the whole time they were separated? ALL I WANT OUT OF S7 IS HODGINS AND ANGELA BEING HAPPY AND IN LOVE, OKAY?

2. Sam/Jess from Supernatural

This is kind of a weird pairing for me, because it's simultaneously my happy place and my curl-up-in-a-corner-and-sob place. Oh Jess. We hardly knew you.

3. Peter/MJ from Ultimate Spider-Man

It's been a couple of years now since I've read comics regularly, but I'm pretty sure this is still my OTP of OTPs. Oh my God, guys, they are so adorable. It's the little things: When MJ makes a list of all the people who know Peter's Spider-Man, when he collect calls her after he's been shot, when they plan their expensive grown-up date. And they have their problems and they both do stupid, immature things, but they love each other and most of the time they're so good to each other. They are absolutely the best.

4. Jim/McCoy from Star Trek XI

I would never have thought I'd ship Jim and McCoy, but then Reboot happened, and, well. It's like taking two hilarious and awesome things and mixing them together and making them even more hilarious and awesome. The shenanigans. Oh, the shenanigans. And it doesn't hurt that they're both hecka good-looking.

5. Percy/Annabeth from PJO

I looove how Rick Riordan writes these two. I love how their relationship progressed and how even when they were kind of teetering on the edge of being friends/being a couple, they weren't OMG AWKWARD~ around each other. I love how well they complement each other. I love how they don't magically get along and agree all the time. Okay, so maybe I love everything about them.

For liberty_witch: My top 5 myths. I decided to take "myth" super loosely, so these aren't necessarily all myths in the traditional sense.

1. My #1 favorite midrash, or Jewish story exploring the Torah and/or Jewish laws/traditions, is about Abraham. Abraham's father owned an idol shop, and Abraham spent a lot of time trying to convince his father that the idols were, well, idols rather than gods, but to no avail. One day his father went out and asked Abraham to mind the shop. While his father was out, Abraham took a staff and smashed all the idols. He left only the biggest idol standing, and put the staff in the idol's hand. When Abraham's father returned, he was outraged to see all the destruction. He yelled at Abraham, but Abraham told him that he hadn't smashed anything-- the remaining idol had. "But that idol couldn't have done it!" his father shouted. "It's just a statue!" Abraham smiled knowingly and said, "Aha."

2. In high school, one of my friends was so sly and sneaky that he became something of a legend among us. There are lots of stories about him, my favorites of which include the time he tricked someone into eating someone else's lunch, the time he bought a bag of M&M's just to watch us fight over them, and the time he stole Actor Friend's sim card and snuck it into B1's jacket. I can elaborate on any of these stories if anyone wants, but in a word: He's magical.

3. A number of years ago B1 and I made up these characters called the Environmental Enforcers. Basically, they're two suited, sun glasses-wearing FBI agent types who roam the world and protect the environment. When they find litter on the ground, they squeeze it so hard that it turns into an endangered species. They also have a habit of murdering people who harm the environment; if you accidentally drop a paperclip, they will drop you off the top of a skyscraper. No one is safe from the Environmental Enforcers. No one.

4. Another favorite midrash of mine is about Rabbi Hillel. Back in the day (and still today, in some cases), you had to pay entrance fees to study in the Beit Midrash (House of Study). Hillel was too poor to pay the entrance fee, but he had a huge thirst for knowledge, so one Shabbat he climbed up on the skylight on the roof to listen in on the study session. It was a freezing winter day, and snow was falling heavily. When the scholars inside noticed the shadow falling through the skylight, they climbed up on the roof and discovered Hillel, unconscious from the snow and the cold. They dug him out and brought him inside, and even though it was Shabbat, they built a fire to warm him. I love this story because it demonstrates one of my favorite aspects of Judaism: that almost any rule can be broken in order to save a life.

5. Aaand here's a myth I love that's actually a myth in the classical sense. I had a heck of a time choosing just one Greek myth, but one of my favorites is the story of Prometheus tricking Zeus into choosing animals' bones for sacrifice, rather than the meat. Because the thing is, Zeus knew that Prometheus was tricking him, but he chose the bones anyway. Why would he do that? It's as if Zeus plays along with Prometheus' trick just so that he can have an excuse to then punish him for it. Anyway, I love this story. Poor Prometheus. He can't catch a break.

And that's it! Long and repetitive entry is long and repetitive. Over and out.

stuff, meme, i suck at tags
