Amidst the fog I become a time traveler
Isolated in impregnable layers of grey
Monotony broken only by the blood-tinged dawns of headlights rising over hills
The light from street lamps, once dissipated, burns like thinly veiled hellfire
And street signs twist into distorted creatures with accusing eyes
I cross bridges into other worlds and return again in a single, sinister breath
