Holy cow! I hate to admit it, but I kinda liked that first practice. It was intense, but not too much so. I feel this year is going to be better for the team. We are kept on our toes during practice so we actually get a workout. As opposed to given a huge workout on the bored and being pretty much forgotten about, as fun as that was. I feel this year I might actually lose the weight I want to. That'll be cool. Sterber-gerber's still a little too strict for my taste. I'm afraid to joke around, which might in the end kill me...if ya know what I mean. I think the Gerb just needs to get to know us...our quirks, things that we do on a normal basis and so on. I will tell you one thing though. There was definite spirit missing from the pool. You could feel it. It just didn't feel right. Nobody was making dirty jokes, or procrastinating to get in the water. The divers were full out working. There was no music. We started on the wrong end of the pool. Between the seniors who left and the new seniors who didn't come back...the team is now just a bunch of people in the pool...we better be able to do team building things...like shirts and builleting boards. I think that is the one part of the brain Sterber-Gerber (The Gerb as from before) is missing; swimming isn't just about that. It's about getting to know people, having fun...and maybe a little swimming. We need to do stuff to build the team...right now we're just a T...
