CHARACTER NAME: Remus John Lupin.
SERIES: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Remus_Lupin.
CANON POINT: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, towards the end of the book, after Dumbledore’s death.
AGE: 37 years old.
APPEARANCE: http://oi42.tinypic.com/14io3cz.jpg.

PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: N/A.

PERSONALITY: Remus Lupin is noted for his intelligence and for his calm and good-natured manner. And even though his status as a werewolf means that he receives a great deal of prejudice and hate from others around him, he still is quite the understanding person, and he remains insistent that there is some good in everyone. He is loyal to his friends and would sooner die than betray them or their trust.

Similar to his friends James Potter and Sirius Black, Remus has a great sense of humor, and during his time as a student at Hogwarts, he was one of their best friends as well as one of the Marauders. Interestingly, however, he never participated in their bullying of other students (particularly Severus Snape), although he never did anything to stop it either, which is one of his shortcomings. I don’t mean that Remus is a coward, but as he was more mature than his fellow Marauders, it doesn’t seem unrealistic to think that he might have stepped in. Clearly, however, the staff at Hogwarts considered Remus leadership material, as he became a prefect in his fifth year, which further set him apart from his friends.

Something that is interesting to note about Remus is that, though he is definitely brave, and I feel that to call him a coward would be inaccurate, he has shown that he does feel some embarrassment and fears of rejection because of his identity as a werewolf. He certainly doesn’t take pride in the fact, but for the most part, none of those whom he calls friends treat him as less of a person.

Also, something else that can be gathered about Remus is that he has a distinct need to be liked and to have friends. I think that for the most part, this is a strength, but it can also be a weakness. Remus’s need to be liked led him to turn a blind eye to the antics of James and Sirius, and also it has the potential to put him and others in danger (though it can’t be said that Remus is a reckless individual). Granted, this means that he is a very selfless person, since he would do anything to save his friends, so this is somewhat a double-edged sword.

ABILITIES: Remus is a wizard, and as such, is good at dueling, attacking if necessary, and evading attack. It stands to reason that
he would remain armed with his wand in most, if not all circumstances. Without his wand, his abilities would be limited slightly, but the books do imply that Remus can perform certain spells nonverbally and while unarmed. He is also a skilled duelist, with a number of spells and curses at his disposal. He also excels with the performing of Charms and Transfiguration.

Beyond Remus's personal strengths and abilities, the typical strengths of a wizard from the Harry Potter series are most notably, a thorough, well-rounded education as provided by Hogwarts. By the time a wizard has left the school, he or she should be able to perform a vast variety of spells and charms that can be used in many different
situations, whether life-threatening or not. The advantage of attending Hogwarts (or any of the other wizarding schools - Beauxbatons and Durmstrang) is that because of the wide range of subjects that are taught, there are many options open for students to
choose which area they prefer, whether it is Potions or Herbology. In other words, after being educated at Hogwarts, the possibilities for employment are almost limitless (with, of course, the unfortunate exception of those who are looked on with less than friendly eyes, such as Remus Lupin).

The strengths that a werewolf possesses are basic and straightforward - the change from a human to a werewolf gives them a slightly increased strength and resilience to attacks. This is not to say that they are immortal, but rather that they are more likely to fend off certain attacks, long enough for them to either incapacitate the one doing the attacking or to make an escape. The werewolf's claws and fangs are easily its greatest weapons.

It is important to make one further note about the werewolf; those who are werewolves remain as humans for twenty-nine days, but on the night of the full moon, transform into werewolves. A werewolf’s transformation is extremely difficult in the sense that it’s very physically demanding both during and afterwards. If there is no one around when a werewolf has transformed, then the unfortunate person will attack himself or herself instead.

POSSESSIONS: Remus’s possessions upon his arrival will include his wand and his clothes which will appear similar to the ones in the picture that I linked above. He will also have a pocketful of Wizarding currency comprising of several Galleons, various Sickles, and a number of Knuts.

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:

I suppose that of all the strange circumstances that exist in the world, this would be one of them. I seem to have burst from an egg and woken up inside (is this inside?) a giant tree.

I couldn't tell you what I remember beyond the dream, but I do know that my name is Wolf. It seems strange to me, however. I have an odd feeling that I'm forgetting something. A detail… A very important detail.

By my reckoning, which may be inaccurate, I have been here for at least three days. In that time, I've taken many walks and met many people. This place, this Sphere as it seems to be called, is a pleasant place. I think I could make myself at home here. It seems that I have no choice, however, as I see no immediate way out of here. Though, there are much worse fates than this.

Ah. Formal introductions are in order.

Hello. My name is Wolf. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

The first thing that he realized was that the moon was out and flooding the darkened forest. The light was so bright that anyone standing there, as he was, would have been blinded. But the moment he grasped exactly what was happening, his reflexes kicked in
and he ran desperately into a cluster of trees that had not been penetrated by the moonlight. His breath caught in his lungs as he racked his mind, trying to think of what his next move should be. For this night coincided with the full moon, and if he was
not careful, if he made one mistake, there was no telling what could happen.

He had to act, and quickly, and so before one more minute could pass, he stepped out from the shadows of the trees. "I have to return to the castle," he muttered, his voice low and hushed. And having said that, he began to walk slowly through the trees towards the path leading back to the castle where, if his luck held, he could find a safe hiding
places to wait out what he knew was soon to happen.

But then, the sound of a twig snapping caught his attention. It was a quiet sound, one that he might have missed were he not so alert; but he did hear it, and so he turned around, eyes narrowed and muscles suddenly tensed. His hand grasped for his wand that had been stuck into his belt loop, but it was not there. "This situation keeps on
worsening," the man said to himself in a barely audible whisper.

There in front of him stood a great dark shape that was rather like a dog but much, much larger. The man's instincts and personal experiences warned him that this was not merely a dog. "Who are you?" It seemed strange to ask an animal a question, but the man ignored that thought, as the great shape bared its teeth in what was unmistakably meant to be a menacing grin. The man heard soft padding sounds as the animal moved closer, throwing into sharper relief black-grey fur, pointed ears, and fangs that were glistening with saliva. "Who are you?" the man demanded again. "What do you want?"

The animal continued its slow movements towards the man, padded step after padded step. Its grin widened and a bizarre light suggesting bloodlust came into its eyes. Silence fell over the forest, and for what seemed to be an eternity, not a word was spoken. The man and the beast locked eyes with each other, but neither of them moved.

Finally, the creature opened its mouth, revealing more menacingly glistening fangs. The animal spoke, its voice low and soft like a breeze but edged with a hardness unmatched by any sound that was in existence.

"I am you."
