laiqualaurelote and other potatoes:
pernickety was right!. oh my goodness.
first, Nestlé (the worst of the Big Four, if i may say so myself) introduces a Fair Trade-certified chocolate.
then Coca-Cola gets accolades from Grist for going green in their building design. and
guess what,
they opened Far Coast! that last point is perhaps the most trivial (judging from the other CSR initiatives of the company), but well, it's something that we can relate to first-hand. how odd it is that there is no noticeable sign of this in the Far Coast café, nor on the brochure. i am perplexed. and then there is this
statement by The South Asian. sometimes it's no wonder why people give up on conscious efforts to be ethical consumers.
nevertheless, i'm don't think i'm going to boycott Far Coast anytime soon, because the alternatives are probably worse. Starbucks here doesn't even bother with wooden stir sticks. not to mention i was significantly unimpressed by the Katong branch of Settlers' Café, and many other coffee places in the small area that i walked last week.
but look hey, happy thoughts:
Campus Consciousness.
