xinty  first linked me to Grist and over the years i've actually upped my subscription from one to three lists (i usually unsubscribe to things...). they offer varied and credible reporting with a view to airing opinions in a consciously self-reflexive way. and they aren't as hardliney as other "green" reporting. and they's funny. "a beacon in the smog," anyone?

here are two of their stories from this week's Grist list.

1. a clear and unapologetic piece on the appalling KFC advertising campaign. I'm not sure how big this is/how much attention it is getting. what i am also unsure about is what to feel worse about -- what they're advertising or how they're doing it. i wish i had had this article while i was still teaching.

2. more light-hearted advertising: Yeo Valley (friends in the UK: have you seen them around? looks pretty shiny/corporate to me)
YEO YEO YEO WHAT UP?
The world’s first organic dairy rap video
British organic dairy Yeo Valley has finally given the world what it's always needed: a ridiculously good rap song about organic farming. Watch the magic.love that owl. :D and the female rapper is quite cool.
