So Christmas Eve I meet my mom and step-dad for lunch at Chalula's (a Mexican restaurant here in Greenfield) to plan what lie we're telling my sister this year at Christmas to really upset her. See, my sister really over reacts to things so she's a lot of fun to kid because you get such great reactions out of her. Like one year my mom wrapped her present in a Victoria's Secret box and made her open it in front of the whole family. She was really embarrassed and refused to do it. The worst was probably the year they tricked her into thinking she got a car for Christmas, even I think they may have crossed a line with this one. She had just turned 16 and really wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Well my mom found a remote control Jeep Cherokee where the remote looked like an automatic car starter on your keychain with a fake key. So they put the little car in the garage and parked the regular cars outside so she would notice when we got home that night. She opened her present and it was some car keys. She got really excited and they told her to go look in the garage. She was not very happy that year but it was funny for the rest of us.
Anyway, this year my mom and step-dad were thinking of telling us my mom was pregnant but we all knew they had been fixed years ago, so that was out. Then we thought about the car thing and maybe would tell her my brother was getting the new car that she had wanted. We also were throwing around telling her my brother was going to propose to his girl friend and get married soon, or that his girlfriend was pregnant, or that they were eloping to Vegas, or that my mom and step-dad were flying my brother and his girlfriend out to Vegas. We haven't really been able to decide, but first we need to get my brother in on it. Man, there's no time quite like the holidays.
