Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth: Lupin Bad Ends and Normal End

The "Normal End" is sadder than some of the "Bad End"s, I'm glad I used a walkthrough! None of these were SUPER upsetting for me, but they are melancholy, and there's themes of suicide.

Let's see how bad this gets /o\

INTERESTING. I'm using the Path of Genesis which lets me start from any chapter. I have to pick a path, and the game warns me that I will be locked onto that path no matter what choice I make.

This first bad end is path independent, so I'll pick "None", I guess?

Chapter 1:

I refuse when Lupin offers Cardia his hand, just after kidnapping/rescuing her. Haha that's right, just before that she shows him her boobs and he's all PUT BACK ON YOUR SHIRT.

Anyway.

Lupin: You're going off alone?! You'll be much better off with me!
Cardia: One of the books in the mansion said that thieves are not to be trusted.
Lupin: That's...valid...but you can't trust books! Are you really going to end this before it begins?!

Cardia thinks that this journey is hers and hers alone, and then walks off by herself, enjoying the sunlight.

THE END

Huh! Here's to that Cardia finding her own happiness :)

Chapter 10:

This is on Lupin's route proper, and I am given the option to set his favor to maximum, guaranteeing his True End. This is much clearer than Hakuoki, which just let you set these things without explaining what they did.

*sets his favor to nothing*

There's a choice that doesn't seem to affect anything significant before the Bad Choice, so I pick the one I didn't before: Cardia is clingily worried about Lupin going off alone instead of figuring out what he's up to. Instead of being impressed at her insight he's just weak to her puppy-dog eyes haha.

This chapter is so loooong

Ok. Finis has captured Cardia at the Palace while she's waiting for Lupin. The good choice is to stall for time, but this time I'll resist!

Cardia whispers to Leonhardt that she'll fight Finis and his soldiers while Leonhardt spirits Victoria to safety. Then she knocks down a soldier and takes off her gloves, apologising to him as she touches his hand. He screams and falls to the ground on top of her gloves, clutching himself in agony. She thinks "I won't need those gloves any more. I'll never have the chance to take the hand of someone I love ever again." She's shot, and falls.

Finis: Don't worry, that was just a tranquilizer dart. I won't have you killed for a little while yet. Not that either of us were ever alive to begin with...

She notices that his voice sounds sad, and then everything goes dark.

THE END

:(

Chapter 12:

Having been given the choice of killing everyone around her or becoming Isaac's energy source, Cardia takes the poison pill instead. Everything starts to go blurry as Finis screams. Cardia sends a silent apology to Lupin: she couldn't wait for him. But she did help stop Isaac's plan. Her final thought is that she will always love him.

THE END

Chapter 13:

Ok, so, first a mildly bad choice to help me head towards the Normal End: Cardia tries to avoid telling Lupin why she wants to leave him, but he is understandably insistent.

Now for a genuinely bad choice: When it looks like all is lost and she's about to be taken into the Isaac's main body, Cardia gives up hope. She reaches for the poison, but Isaac stops her with another Finis-clone-body, saying "You no longer have any freedom". She's pulled into the main body and everything progresses inside Isaac's head as before, until Cardia is back in her mansion, deciding to sleep forever.

And instead of hearing Lupin's voice, she hears Finis, saying "Now, let's enter sleep together, Sister..."

The voice is soothing and she smiles and says "Yes. We'll be together forever" and falls into sleep.

THE END

WORST DAD.

And now for the Normal End!

Cardia doesn't lose hope, and is rescued by Lupin from inside Isaac. Everything progresses the same as in the True End, right until when the closing credits happened: Lupin and Cardia kiss as they fall through the air, not knowing if they'll live or die.

But this time, we have...Saint-Germain's POV!

Wandering the streets of London as it recovers from the war, he thinks about how strangely resilient humans are. But it's been a month, and there's been no sign of Lupin or Cardia. He has only 50 years or so left to live, and has decided to spend this "short time" making sure his mansion is there, ready for their return.

The others have all moved on with their lives, so Saint-Germain lives a lonely, aimless life with Sisi. We see him fall asleep holding the photograph of the airship win, thinking "At least I can be with them all in my dreams".

THE END

That was sweet and sad and not at all what I was expecting. I wonder if Cardia and her love interest die in every Normal End, and we get a different other character's point of view on it? Or if it's more varied than that?

I'm going to play Future Blessings now, but will put it in a different post for anyone who'd rather skip the bad ends.
