1. What is your favorite Kingdom besides the one you live in?
------------
Don’t have one
2. What event do you try NEVER to miss -
--------
(SCA) West Kingdom October Crown - it’s my birthday event
3. What was your original persona?
----------
Alesan Denukat - Russian
4. How long have you played in the SCA?
----------
Since 1992
5. What is your favorite style of medieval clothing?
-------------
15th Century French (cottehardies)
6. Who is your favorite Knight? Why?
-------------------
It’s a toss-up between Eric Bearsbane, Cybi di Elmhurst, Connor McAughlie fitz James, and Gemini de Grendel.
If/when they admit Mari Alexander, she’ll be added to the list.
For me it’s about personality, honor, and integrity more than just the sword skills. All of these knights I know I can count on in an emergency, or to defend my honor if it came down to it. And all of them are very dear, close friends, any one of which I would be happy to call “my” champion.
7. What is the dumbest thing you've ever done at an event?
------------
Drink too much, so that I had to do teardown, on a warm day, with a hangover.
8. Have you ever been the last person awake at an event?
----------
Yes, a couple of times. And then there was Gemini’s vigil, during which I never went to sleep. :)
9. Who were your first King & Queen that you remember?
-----------
Rolf and Mari
10. Who is your favorite Laurel? Why?
-----
Probably Mari Alexander. Her costuming is just WAY too cool, and makes me envy her patience and talent with a needle and thread.
11. RAPIER in the SCA- sexy, street-fighting suave, or fancy-prancy pursuit for prats?
------
(Ximon said it best...) Both...But for those who see it in either light, I feel those generalizations, although true to a certain degree are SOMEWHAT incomplete. In its true realization, its mechanics, its best expressions of movement make it an awesome art to practice in a civilized society. One could draw the parallel to our romanticizing of old west gunfights.
12. Who is your favorite Pelican and why?
---------
I have several favorites, and several I’d rather were not on the council. We’ll leave it at that.
13. What SCA time period clothing do you like the least?
-------
For looks - 15th Century French
For comfort and ease in construction - early Norse
14. What book should every SCA fighter read?
---------
Hmmmm…not being a fighter myself, I would suggest a book on the art of chess. Learning to play chess is supposedly one of the knightly pursuits, as it helps develop strategic thinking, which, in turn, is useful in times of war. So a good book on chess basics would be a useful read for any fighter.
15. If you could change something in the SCA, what would it be?
-----------
Lose the politics. More and more often they’re getting in the way of a really great, fun hobby, and I’m afraid it’s pushing many people away, souring them on the whole organization.
